I would just put the lights as high as the canopy and if your corals look like they can use more light then move them down after a week or so. PC's can put out significant heat so to close and then you can run into the water temp issue.

My wife sent me a picture. The aragocrete rock is the bottum left corner piece of rock. The corraline is about 3 months of growth and the rock is teeming with pods. The rest of the rock is all natural. The colt coral has actually grown up onto the aragacrete rock.

Somebody bought a 20 dollar digital camera at wallgreens I think. The pictures actually looked really good. That may be an option for you.

I think that mushrooms are about the only thing that will survive and do okay with your lighting. If you bought a 2-65 PC lighting setup with 10-k bulbs and then ran your 40 watters as actinics you could keep leathers and bubbles and alot of other stuff minus the hard corals.
