    High hat

You get conflicting stories because they have conflicting behavior. In the wild, no, in captivity, maybe. Heres a trick that although isn't foolproof, a lot of times it works. Wait until the shrimp is cleaning a fish. Float the Hi hat in a clear container and acclimate him. A lot of times if...

Suggestions needed on Shipping Cleaner Shrimp

He needs a little water and a lot of air. When the company I worked for shipped shrimp we used about 10% water and 90% O2 in the bag. Make the bag hard so he cant grab any slack.

    cycling problem, please help!

The slime is a combination of decaying animal and plant life on the LR. You need to remove as much as possible. Like I said it can be squirted off, or stick a hose back there and syphon it. It isn't nessasary to remove all of it but as much as possible.

    Cycling Questions

Don't worry, with that uncured live rock you put in there, your tanks gonna cycle. Whats your nitrite and nitrate if any? IMHO take out any charcoal or other chemical filtration and just use biological until you get a nitrate reading and ammonia and nitrite go to zero. Dont add a cleaning crew...

    What's the white stuff???

The rock you bought is uncured. It will spread all over and totally pollute your tank. It'll probably show up on all the rock you bought that was uncured, it needs to be removed. You can simply vacuum it off with your siphon. Keep an eye on your ammonia and nitrite.

    Cant do nothing

Wheres your original want list? A lot of cool fish are ok with a 75. The fact that nature isn't cooperating with your decorating plans is not the fault of the board members. Many many people have made lists of what every fish requires, They're called books. You may be tired of everyone saying...

sea horses in a 12 gallon nano

A little trivia for you: Seahorses are the earliest known marine life to be kept as pets. Marie Antoinette had them. Yeah, you'd have to go with dwarfs, the others all get too tall. Sorry, forget to address that issue. Raising brine for them is real easy. I'll draw up some plans and instructions...

    cycling problem, please help!

Just turn off the filter and squirt the white stuff off with a turkey baster. You can even just fan it with a spatula. I usually just put an otb filled with floss on there when I do it. You'll probably have to do it a few times. No prob, you just dont want that stuff to coat your filter media...

think my snails had babies helps!!!!

I suggest looking up nubis and identifying yours. You need to make sure it doesn't like to eat what you have. Some of them are poisonous to certain fish. There's many many species.

My new clowns are doing well so far

Fish don't have saliva and often chew spit chew. If they don't ever actually finish it, switch foods.

    Harlequin Shrimp reef safe?

A dog will drink antifreeze like it was the best food on Earth. Just because you can get an animal to consume something doesn't mean they will thrive on it. The only substitute for starfish (I got this advice from the marine curator at the zoo) is fish soaked in foods intended for the feeding...

sea horses in a 12 gallon nano

Seahorses wont appreciate you tanks good flow, they prefer still water. The changing flow direction will be very hard on them, they will just get blown around and die of exaustion. With the flow at a constant rate and direction at least they will have a chance to learn where to swim. They don't...

Combine the original post with this one. I tested this product before they made it available to the public. I'm not going to rewrite what the conclusions of our test were here.

    yellow tang yes or no

I can't find it now but there was a thread along the lines of what do you most regret having done, or something like that. Yellow Tangs came up a lot. IMHO *They are very easy to stress out *Get massive parasite infestations every time you look crosseyed at them *Their temperment can be...

    moving live sand

If the old tank is glass, do not try to move it with water in it. It only needs to twist about 1/32" to loosen the seal.

will this work for a reef tank

Before these came out the distributor I worked for got 3 in to test. We put LR/LS in it and 3 small blue damsels for the first run. We used cycled Biochem beads from our system and Chemipure in the filter, we did attempt to cycle it. We found that for this livestock the filter was inadequate...

    Best LFS Story

My favorite is called RMS Aquaculture in the Cleveland OH area. They have 4 or 5 stores now. Their swf tanks are 10's with only 1 or 2 fish each of only net caught or tank raised juvis around 2"-4", clowns and damsels 5 each, and around 10% -25% lower than anyone else. They dont spoil them with...
