Beth - you definately scored with the G6! Marine son #2 got in tonight and we just finished our 3rd round of Christmas. I think we are finally done. Now we get to all play with our new toys. Help me pick out corals please!¡!¡

All of the above are good choices. An anenome is not a good idea until the tank is stable and 6 mos or older. If you ever do decide to go with an anenome look for a e. quad aka bubble tip anenome that is tank bred. They are becoming more and more available and should do fine with proper...

    need help ick

You need to post this in the disease forum. There is also a sticky thread there that will tell you what you need to do to treat ich. The best treatment is hyposalinity in a quarentine tank. Good luck.

    anyone open presents yet?

Beth - my dad got me a fugi finepix a340. It's 4 megapixel but I don't know how well it will do tank pics yet. My camera that got stolen was a Canon G3, awesome camera and expensive! If this fugi doesn't do very well on tank shots the good news is when I bought the G3 I bought my dad one too. He...

    Help!!!kole Tang Gills!!!

Shawn - I would add that 4 tangs in a 75 gallon is not, in any case, a healthy environment for the fish. Possibly one but, that's stretching it.

Are sally lightfoots supposed to do that?

I think it most likely the sallylightfoot was eating algae from down in the polyps and inadvertantly did the damage. I've seen mine picking algae from the base of my gsp before. Generally, they just close up for a while after he's given the base area a cleaning.

    Is it ICK?

shawnts106 - Personally you believe this WHOLE THREAD TO BE SCREWED UP!!!!.... I believe most of your reply to be screwed up.1. If you actually read it, you would have read that Beth warned Madison the FW dip was the wrong thing to do. 2. first off NEVER lower the Salinity... keep it at a 1.025...

    water chemistry off

The test kits are new. The only thing that could be a date on them is a yellow sticker with 03-2009. Santa needs to bring me a refractometer but by my swing arm sg is 1.026 dburr - I had hair algae so bad in that tank I took it dark for almost 3 months, took out the dsb, added a ssb, all new...

    water chemistry off

dburr - I wasn't trying to move them that fast, I was just trying to buffer to bring my dKH in line. We've been doing about 10% water changes each week. We're having a hair algae problem. I just use Kent calcium (twice a week), the buffer(every day for the past 10 days or so) and essential...

    Is it ICK?

Nice avatar, Madison:D I notice you live in OC. My brother lives in Lake Forrest. I love it out there, only 15 minutes from his house to my favorite cove at Laguna. There are some amazing tide pools there.

    water chemistry off

I had a problem with low dKH and calcium was at 470ppm. So started adding Kent super buffer dKH a couple weeks ago and cut back on adding calcium. Tested with Salifert tonight and dKH is 9.6 Ca is 300 ppm Sorry had to use a strip for ph but it showed 8.3 and that was at 9:30 tonight, lights go...

HI and Merry Christmas to all!

Good for you, flying in the face of fear so to speak. My sis-in-law will not get on a plane for anything. She has missed some great trips that some of our group has gone on..Vegas, Costa Rica, San Fransisco just to name a few. She is now dating a guy who has a lot of money and travels quite a...

    Is it ICK?

I love PBT's. One of the things I'm doing over the holiday is setting up my quarentine tank to be hospitable to fish for a month. I am on the list at my favorite lfs for the next "harem" of lyretail anthias. Once I get them through qt the next thing on my list is a PBT or another sailfin. Then...

    My 180gal Oceanic Let Loose

I bought a 135 Oceanic in 2003. At least I laid ceramic tile in the room, but I still hope I don't go through what you are. Looks like you had a busy day and a huge mess. And right around Christmas too! Good news is you'll get a brand new tank.

    Is it ICK?

Madison - I hope you read this before you start raising the salinity. You have to keep it in hypo for 3 weeks to make sure the ich is gone. "Once the fish have been asymptotic for three weeks, the salinity is then raised back to display tank levels over the course of a week. Fish can not...
