I'm frustrated!! Ready to give up saltwater.

How deep is the sand bed? Rather then setting up a lighted fuge, how about just filling the 10 gal tank with sugar size arragonite sand..make it as deep as you can, maybe an inch or two from the top and run the water slowly over the top of it.

    Ecosystem..doesn't need skimmer..how?

Some where in San Diego Ca. there's a deep hole in some guys backyard. Anybody have any idea what he calls the stuff he pulls out of this hole? I'm sure these Ecosystem work very well but I really don't see the difference between an Ecosystem and a Refugium that has a DSB using sugar size sand...

Please HELP! How do i start my siphon?

I used to run a piece of vinyl tubing (air line) up through the U-tube from the outside box. Make sure the end is at the top of the U-tube, now suck all the air out. You can also drill a hole on the top of the U-tube and glue in a small needle valve.

    Whose pets love their tank?

About 20 years ago we bought our first Golden. He walked by the tank for years and never noticed it, then one day he must of saw the fish moving around and "bammm" he was hooked. He'd sit in front of that tank for hours, sometimes barking, sometime whinning.

Iwaki's can be LOUD. I've heard my buddies Iwaki screaming from his closed garage while sitting in my truck on the street with my windows closed. One word.............Sequence

Water Cirulation?? Too much and advice

Justs depends on the corals you keep? If I added up all the powerheads and pumps I use on my 120 it would top out around 6000 gph.

In need of a Nitrate Reducer

Have you ever heard of a "remote DSB" "it is a modest strategy and dependant on bioload of course. But so cheap to employ, and easy to remove if you don't like it. My LFS finally tried this with a 55 gall tank full (nearly to the top) of sand with a good stream of water traversing the length of...

Squiddy, For the folks back home lets bring this one back up..I'm all for your idea but I look at it like this. The overflow is a box within a box. So your "sucking" from one box to another. Just like a sump, your sucking from one box to another. The six inches you speak of is the difference...

    Return Pump Overkill

Well, I don't know a thing about the GX-8500. I do know that reducing the flow with a ball valve and or adding head pressure reduces the amp usage on pumps like Sequence Reeflo and Dolphin Amp Master pumps. I've been using Mag pumps for years and reducing the flow with ball valves. I for one...

Squidd, going with your logic, using the overflow and sump is a CL........ But lets just stop for one second and say there is no such thing as a CL.. And we're going to use the overflow as mentioned....How big do you think that overflows going to have to be to get 1500 gph, 3000 gph, or 6000...
