    curing some rock

I'd just throw the new uncured live rock in the 29 with lots of flow, keep the temp in range and let it go for a few months. If you have an extra skimmer that would be a plus. I also like to run lights when I'm curing rcok, maybe just 3-4 hrs a day. You never know what your going to get.

I don't mean to get you confused but there are no 175 watt DE bulbs. The place you bought the system from might tell you that their 175 watt bulbs but thier not, unless their the SE (screw in)

It sounds to me like somebody has their numbers mixed up..Like I said, I've seen a site that sells this combo but their info is wrong, the bulbs are 150 watt bulbs.

I agree, the Deltecs seem to be the skimmer of the year...I have a buddy who has a Bubble King now that's a skimmer...its also about the size of a 30 gal trash can.

    metal halide question

If you put a cover over the tank your going to need a chiller for sure unless you use something like eggcrate. I've had a few jumpers in the past 23 years but not many. I don't worry too much about it. The flow rate might have more effect on evaporation then the lights. I do about 6000 gph...

why do you want 1000 gph going though the skimmer? Why no in sump skimmer? I'd get either a Geo recirc 626 model, you can use this out of sump but it will probably cost you between 400.00-450.00...or get the ASM G2 or G3, these are in sump skimmers but the cost is less the 250.00.
