views on tropic marin pro reef???

its kind of like comparing Instant Ocean with reef crystals...The salts are pretty much the same thing but -- has a little higher Ca and alk levels...The Tropic marin and Tropic marin pro have the same differences...The price diff isn't worth it if your running Cakalk reactors and or adding...

How do you keep your tank EarthQuake Safe?

I live in So Cal and had glass tanks during both the Northridge and Whitter Narrows quakes..The key is to have plenty of water made up because you'll loose some during the shaking...The only problem I had was my tank moved an inch or so on the stand. I had to drain it so I could move it back. I...

Is this enough lighting for a clam?

these clams did real well over 4x55 watt PC's....The Crocea was up real high on the rocks. I don't recommend clams under anything but MH's but with good water conditions and a luttle uck things can work out http://hometown.aol.com/golfish49/clams.html

    Skimmers

I just saw a few pics.... The tank size rating is way way off. I'd say the large model is good for nothing bigger then a 125.

    Is that Expensiveglasstank worth it??

Yes, IME the low iron glass is worth every penny..Make sure your getting what you pay for tho. There are tons of tank builders offering low iron glass and calling it Starphire and then charging you for Starphire. The Low iron glass these builders use is much better then reg glass but its not as...

RobChuck, The other new feature is the tapered transition between the skimmer body and union. If you look at the 828 skimmer on his web site you'll see the old style has a flat transition.

A Derasa should do just fine, if your water quality is up to par.

    MH or T5?

I've pretty much been a MH fan for years and I've really seen no advantages to running T-5s , especially if your plan is to keep light loving corals. That said, I have seen a few tank's that run T-5's and I've been pretty impressed with what I've seen..None of them have been full blow sps tank...

    Protein Skimmers vs. Standard Filters

I'd do tons of research on skimmers before you decide..IME, A GOOD protien skimmer is a great tool...I can't say enough about buying a GOOD skimmer. Anybody who tells you a skimmer isn't needed probably hasn't used a GOOD skimmer.

Need advice...first vacation since we've had our tank setup!

Your fish can go a long time with out being feed...I have a Blue tang, Six line wrasse, Cherub Angel and Royal gramma in my 120. These fish are very healthy, fat and get feed maybe once a week. Top off is much more important then feedings.
