    Finnally stock list!

as many as you like. there is no recommended amount. bear in mind that most hermits will kill snails and take their shells, even if there are other empty shells around. as far as a "cleanup crew" is concerned, take it slow and add a few here and a few there. there is no need to add a multitude...

    Acans

i make my own food. i have a thread about it somewhere. on here. if you can't find it, pm me. it's all stuff from the supermarket chopped up- fresh scallops, shrimp, haddock or cod...clam. much cheaper and fresher than store bought frozen fish food.

    stumped

thank you! btw- i added a nice bright green leather and a symphyllia brain, and a few more fish (bi color pseudo, algae blenny, one of his old blue damsels. what i failed to report here was that the tank had a massive green water outbreak. i tried waterchanges and it just got worse. i tried...

    Another Newbie

i'm sure you've heard about seaclone skimmers. if you haven't, the popular vote is that they are less than great. i'm glad it's working for you.

    Acans

it will continue to expand, and grow skeleton underneath like a favia or maze, but it will take a long time. if you can get a rock situated in such a way that the polys will grow on it, go for it. take a look at this green lord i recently purchased. you can see all the skeleton that was built...

    New approach to cyano.

i have a mixture of 4 or 5 different macroalgae in my refugium. i've not had any sexual event in the couple years my system has been running. you just need to harvest when it get's thick. when i leave it alone for a period of time, the bubble caulerpa that's on the bottom, turns transparent...

    Wrong information

-that you should have "x" amount of snails per gallon. -that a "turf scrubber" works better than a refugium, and it's some sort of new technology -that the solution to algae problems is algae eaters

    New approach to cyano.

some say the cyano will hurt the corals. i've never witnessed this in any tanks. and i've seen alot of cyano!

Wanting to start a small reef tank

no crushed coral. use sugar sized sand. crushed coral will trap detrius. you don't need live bacteria either, for the live rock will bring it's own bacteria to the table. what will you keep in this 10 gallon? your lighting choice will depend on that. current makes a "satellite" fixture that's 20".

    New approach to cyano.

i believe you can keep the cyano on one tank and not the other, but i don't think turning the lights off will remove it from the dt. anyone who has cyano can tell you that at night when the lights are off, the cyano looks as though it's dying off , and all but disappears. the next day, when the...

    Protein Skimmer HELP!

you could go with an octopus hang on skimmer, or do like you said and make a little sump. the trouble with the 10 gallon is the small footprint. for a 55, i'd buy a skimmer rated for about 100 gallons or so. look into 100+ gallon skimmers and check out their footprint. make sure you can fit it...

    Copepods!

i kept a mandarin in a 125 for a year, and then transferred him to my 195, where he did fine until the power outage. i would go with the smaller spotted variety, and wait a full year just to be safe. you have nothing else that eats pods. btw- how much rock do you have in your 90?

OK, so Im not new but.... New to sumps...

well, you may not have room for one. there are a couple options- you can glue in partitions to make separate compartments for the skimer and refugium. you can plumb in another tank to be an in-line refugium, between this wet/dry and the return pump. you can utilize a HOB style refugium, and just...
