    OK who ate my snails??

I would be willing to bet that the nitrate buildup killed them, and the cleaners simply ate the carcasses. Especially if all died around the same time, after having been fine for so long. Inverts, especially snails, are sensitive to water conditions, so your nitrate problem is the likely culprit.

    Wet/Dry?

I've seen several people with the same misconception of canister filters "producing" nitrates, this is simply not true. If regular maintenance(cleaning prefilters) is done on a canister filter, any biological material large enough to still be breaking down is removed, thus eliminating a source...

    Inline or submersible return pump?

What kind of lighting do you run on those tanks?

    What Now??

Without a host, the ick will not survive in the tank for longer than 90 days, I think it is. So you will have to let your tank sit for a while, but it will be worth it when all is said and done. Also, if you do not currently have a QT set up for introducing new fish, then when the time comes to...

    Temperature Changes

Buzz is correct. Experts are now agreeing that normal reef temperatures are actually closer to the 82-84 range rather than 78-80 as was thought before. And some silly people deny global warming. rofl Anyways, what I would sugest is to set your heater temp to 81, to keep the water from...

    Live rock added Trites&Trates up

My suggestion would be to go to the store and pick up a 30gal Rubbermaid container and put the rock you added into it and run it with a few powerheads and a heater for a few weeks. This will cure the rock and allow your tank to settle back down before you attempt to put the rock back in. It will...

How high should my lights be

I would suggest starting out at 10" from surface, and if that doesn't cause a heat problem, move them 1" closer and wait a few days to see if it is going to raise the temp. Keep doing this until you see a slight rise in temp, then back off an inch and there ya go. But this is just my opinion.

    30 gallon setup

A dwarf lion would be fine in a 30, and as long as you added fish with several weeks in between each addition, it would be fine to have a couple of other small tankmates, the biofiltration will adjust itself. If you want the eel, I would go with the 55 and have just the lion and the moray, that...

? on sw vs. fw color

Any of the dragonet family would likely have different color patterns than the parents...I was thinking they meant if the color would be blended, such as if the male was blue and the female was yellow, the offspring would be blue/yellow

    Goby

I would suggest at least 80lbs of very well-established rock for just one of the two, unless youhave a very well-established refugium with a good pod population growing there so that they don't get completely wiped out. If you had 100lbs of rock in your main tank and a good refugium, I would say...

    Clownfish...

Dominos can be extremely aggressive. I know a guy that works at a neighboring LFS that had a customer who cycled his tank with a domino and a tomato clown. They lived just fine in his 175gal for several years, but he couldn't put anything else in the tank without them killing it. lol One heck of...

    Cleaner Shrimp "babies"

That's awesome, good luck on that. I can only imagine all the hard work that you must put into that. Do you sell the peps? And are they for sure the species that eat aptasia? As there are many different "peppermint" shrimp, some do and some don't. If you ever get to the point where you can raise...

Not really, when you consider how much power drain htere is in that 450 gallons of aquarium, the reptile lights, all my appliances are electric, including stove, oven, water heater, washer/dryer, the fact that there are only about 4 hours a day when nobody is awake here...lol I use a lot of...
