    Making own canister filter

Snad filters would require much more pressure than foam, floss, or carbon filters, so I guess it would depend on what filter type it would be used for. Also, did you push the water into the bucket, or pull it out? Pulling it out would create a vacuum in the bucket, helping to seal it, as...

    Tanning Bed Lights Question

I have a friend of mine who owns a tanning salon doing us a little research on the ballasts used to drive the tanning beds. We may just be on to something... lol

    cycling a new tank

The difference between uncured and cured is that cured rock has been allowed to sit while the dieoff from harvesting and shipping is purged from the rock and all dead organic matter is cleaned out. For setting up a new tank, I would suggest uncured, as the dieoff is what will start your cycle...

Golfish... How much juice you pulling...

MUhahaha, it's nice to live in Texas, where energy is cheap. My electric bill is only $185/month, and I have a 200gal, 100gal, 90gal, 30gal, 20gal, 10gal, and a 125gal housing 2 3-foot iguanas with lots of UV lamps, heating stones, and an ultrasonic fogger. ;)

    Once again a lighting ?

Being the VHO fan that I am, I would suggest an IceCap 660 ballast with 4 36" 95watt URI bulbs, giving you 380 watts, or about 8 watts/gallon, plenty of light to keep most corals, anemones, and light- to medium-demanding clams. VHO also runs much cooler than MH, so you shouldn't have a problem...

    Inline or submersible return pump?

I much prefer submersible if there is room, not only for ease of use, but for sound reduction. Unless you want to spend much more money on a pump of the same size that is designed to run quiet, get a good submersible, and the water will drastically reduce the sound emitted.

    R/O-DI systems

Assuming you don't eat anything at all that contains any minerals(just try), I guess drinking enough totally pure water and then urinating it back out might remove some mineral content from your body, but I would think that you would be more apt to die from starvation before any calcium...

    Cleaner Shrimp "babies"

You can set up a small tank with normal DSB and rock, and an air-driven foam filter. This would be a suitable housing for the offspring. If I can remember the website, someone posted not long ago, someone was attempting to raise cleaner shrimp...

Saltwater Plants in a reef setup?

I had some shaving brushes in my 100gal reef, but my dang golden-headed sleeper goby destroyed them... lol I have a few shoots of halimeda in my 200gal grouper tank that stay well-trimmed, but nothing other than that.

Used: 3 175w MH and 2 VHO setup ... how much would you pay?

Not true on the Coralife ballasts, as they are seperated into 4 and 2-lamp setups. IceCaps, that is true on, they are only limited in max. total length and wattage, which is actually 464watts. This is why IceCaps are much more versatile than the Coralife, and typically more expensive.

Water Temp/Mana shrimp in live rock?

I would suggest getting your temp. fluctuation under control before thinking of adding any other livestock. Yes, it's very upsetting when livestock dies, but at least you learn from the mistake. Inverts do have to be acclimated quite a bit slower than fish, as they are more sensitive to water...

    New Tank Design?

Glass scratches not being repaired is not entirely true, it can usually be taken to a glass shop and polished out. Glass also does not scratch NEARLY as easily as acrylic. But as the examples that slothy showed, some very good points.

    Clowns keep dying

Florida Condy's are not typically host anemones, and very well could have killed your clown.
