I guess I'm fortunate to not have my friends mock me! Once they hear the price tag...

So, I got the hippo in august (I'm in the process of putting together a 180 setup for tangs and SPS, the main reason I got that one) and didn't QT - which...
It's a beautiful fish. The colors around the tail are a deep purple! I feed flakes, pellets, and a homemade fixture (clams, squid, octopus, shrimp, mussels, nori) he eats it all. I also feed frozen formula one.
Agreed. Hank is a bafoon (sp?). Maybe the best thing for the Yanks would be to sell, once George is completley done. I don't like anything about Hank... Man, it's sad to say that as a Yankee fan....

I have done this and will speak from my experience. The curing should take 1-2 weeks. I assume you know to check the levels, and once the Trites and Ammonia are 0, it's cured. if you scrubbed off the rock before putting it into the tank, then you should not have to do any more scrubbing...

I stand corrected.
What kind of "quick cure" are you using? Hopefully it is not copper!
Have you read Beth's thread on Ich and other diseases (sticky on the disease thread)? There is a lot of great info there.
You can put DT water into the QT. Try to use 50% DT water and 50% new water. To help the cycle along...
Make sure your SG does not get down to 1.008! Fish cannot live in those conditions. It's a very delicate process. SG has to be, and remain at, 1.009. Any higher will allow the ich to live, lower will kill your fish. You will have to top off 1-2 times a day.
You're in a tough spot. Why did you get a new fish when you didn't have a place to put him??
I can't speak from personal experience about your suggestion. I would use a larger container, make sure to have a heater and powerhead, and buy a cheap power filter. May be a lot, but it'll save the...
