thats ok. but stop adding calcium. my guess is your alk reading is all screwy thats why you CA is down. just my guess. do you have a magnesium test? a low mag reading will also keep your CA down

what are your readings?

the white filter u will know when to replace it will start to place small micro bubbles into the tank. that is the function of that pad is to reduce the micro bubbles from the skimmer

well my nitrates are at zero. and from the test readings i got everything seemed fine. i dont know what the heck it could be. i took my penguin filter down today and cleaned it out real good. tomorrow i will do the same with my skimmer. if cleaning the filtration does not help i dont know what...

you dont have to shut it off. but i do unplug mine. take the collection cup, and the lid off. and rinse them with hot water, and use a old toothbrush to get the crude off. and every couple weeks take the main body off and clean it the same way...

purple up is suppose to make your coralline algae grow and grow fast. but it will also raise your calcium levels, which will mess your alk readings unless u keep the alk reading up
