I use a glass top on my reef.....

i do 5% water change per week with skimmer and canister filter running 20 hours per day (4 hours off for feeding filter feeding inverts)....it works for me. For my 90g the 5% equates to approximately one 5 gallon bucket if you allow your math to be a little fuzzy.
