PLEASE HELP - Fish keep dying

Are you sure they checked every level? Ammonia is the first suspect, what about nitrates? Most LFS only check Ph, alk. and salinity. I would do a big water change using RODI water salted and airated ASAP and then check all your levels to make sure you arent going through a cycle. Sorry about...

    Octo Gorgonian

I havent been able to keep the red/orange ones either. After researching I found that the red ones are from deep water so cooler, less light tanks is preferred. Try the yellow ones or the purple ones they do great for me. Carrie

I feed mine PE mysis and occasionally brine. good luck with the pipes I cant keep them alive even loaded with pods they just wont eat for me. They only last around a month then die. I also find myself looking at my seahorses(72 bowfront) more than my big tank (275). I have been told the dwarf...

    Bad News!!!!

My lawn mower blenny has gotten huge and can be a little aggressive, I dont know what else you have in your tank but they can take cheap shots at other fish especially at feeding time. They also are kinda ugly but do the job well so it 50/50 IMO. Carrie Off topic: Boston Pros rock, I have a...

    Question

How long is the tank been running? What lighting is it going to be under? Green ricordias dont like as much light as the red/pink orange ricordias in my experience anyways. You probably have enough elements/iodine in your salt mix already. Medium light, medium flow, no fish picking on them and...

Reef lighting choice - Please help

Go with the T-5's you'll love them. I have an 8X54 watt on my 72 bowfront and I have SPS, clams, zoos etc. all doing great. I really think a 4X54 watt or a 6X 54 watt is plenty but I got a good deal on this light and I love it. I have halides and VHO's on my big tank and they are great too but I...

Oh My! What do I do???

I always did what Rapid Frog said to get it started. In an outage everything just stops in place and when the power comes back on it just starts again because it wont break siphon. About every 6 months you have to clean that U-tube because of algea build up, so you will have to start the siphon...

    Leather and Xenia

Make sure your salinity is very stable. Leathers and xenia do not like changes. You may try a iodine additive like Kent Tech. I have so much xenia it is like weeds to me, I do know that they prefer to be in good light with med. flow not direct flow. Make sure nobody is picking on them also. Carrie

I have a seahorse tank and I am keeping all males cause they have tons and tons of babies every month if you pair them up with females. I am talking between 50-250 babies every month and you have to have a newborn tank set up just for them it is a real pain and even then only very few survive so...

    SPS without halides?

yeah you can keep them with VHO's and/ or T5's. I wouldnt try it with PC's I dont think they would do too well. I am here in Jacksonville too! The next club meeting is at Rob's Reef in Orange Park. You could ask about what SPS would do ok under whatever lighting you have, I am sure several...

How do I keep my brain green coral alive?

I keep my favia med high. I dont think they require super lighting. They seem to feed off the water column, I do not feed mine directly. Carrie

    Helppppppp!!!!!!!!

Probably, it sounds like they RTN'd/bleached what was the temperature? It wont hurt anything if you leave them in there a few days to see if they will come back, most of the time once they are gone they are gone. Carrie
