Watchout: Chloramines will wipe-out your tank

I just lost almost everything in my 24 ap almost overnight. I tested for everything and nothing was unusual. It was horrible to see my clowns suffocate to death. (Then all my corals died) ammonia: 0ppm nitrite: 0ppm nitrate: 20ppm PH: 8.2 So I was doing some research and I found out that my...

I can't tell if it is infected, but I don't want to take a chance. As i previously said, I am preparing for hyposalinity due to an ich outbreak; I have already taken out all of the rock and am wondering if I can just dose my display with maracyn 2? My QT is completely filled with rock- so are 2...

what do you mean I can't buy the sponge at the store!!! I have been feeding him bits of dish washing sponge! I guess you are refusing to inform me how to proceed. blue angel has popeye...help

Thanks for the lecture! I have been trying to sell him, but the tank has come down with ich. I thought it would be best for the fish to get rid of the ich before I sell him. The angel is a blue angel, not blue spotted or blue face. Is there anything I need to do to help treat him or will it...

    my experiment with sugar dosing.

RotaryGeek: to dose sugar effectively, you need a good skimmer! In addition, a good skimmer will keep your nitrates down. I am not trying to bash you, but what you are using atm is a POS. And don't get a seaclone!

I will be doing hypo on main display soon....questions

I am preparing to transfer my livestock to a new tank (190g full hex) and I seem to have an ich outbreak. So I thought it would be easiest to do hypo, which allows me to transfer all the rock out and put it in the new tank (then the tank has time to properly cycle) I have done hypo before...

    nitrate problems....help

So I was making some nsw and decided to test it for nitrates and it came back at 40ppm. I don't think it was the water or salt, I bet the test kit has gone bad. I am going to purchase a new test kit today and retest. I did test the tank for ammonia and nitrite and was 0ppm

    my experiment with sugar dosing.

This is horrible, but at one point my nitrates were at 550ppm (I had to 1/4 the test kits) I began dosing vodka and brought it down to 20ppm in a week and half. Although it took a lot of skimmer cleaning. I wouldn't try this method if you don't have a good skimmer.

    nitrate problems....help

No mechanical filteration (no wet dry's either). I don't have a sandbed in my refuge. I do use filter socks which are changed out about every 3-4 days (depending on when they begin to overflow). I get my water from my RO/DI unit. Interestingly, I have noticed that my cheato really hasn't...

is it advisable to use prazipro in my display?

210g with 170 lbs of LR and 240lbs of LS. My flagfin all of a sudden has stringy poop and might show some signs of flukes. To get him out would be a large ordeal. So I thought it might be better to treat the entire tank (especially if flukes are present). Is it safe to use in my display? if it...
