how do you determine the right uv sterilizer for a tank? i have a 125g reef set up. the unit is made by Aqua and has a 25w bulb. also, how do you determine the amount of flow? thanks

i say go for it... getting one for my one year old 125g. ich has always been present in my tank. cant seem to ever get rid of them. i still see spots on my hippo's from time to time. their just not killing my fishes these days.

Hi everyone, would a uv system control ich problem? i have a tank thats almost a year old now and cannot get rid of ich. about 8 months ago, i had some major ich problem, but has reduced since. my fish are doing okay now... but they do show spots from time to time. this gets pretty annoying...

sure, but why would you do such a thing? besides, the top of your tank is usually warmer then other parts of your tank. dumb question...

i posted a thread about a month ago, asking the same question. YES, calcium is high in oceanic salt. for that reason, i continue to use oceanic. before switching over to this salt mix, i usually have to dose calcium, whenever a water change is done.

oh yes it will.... :yes: I use to run 10k bulbs... if you want the blue tint, you gotta go with 20ks, if not... get some actinic vho's. by the way, theres no such thing as break in period for bulbs. whenever the light is turn on, it will take about a minute or so to light up to its true color.

10k bulbs are usually yellow. i would add an actinic or use 14k/20k bulbs. I'm running dual 250 mh 20k bulbs, along with 1 actinic and 1 50/50 vho's. very happy with this set up! :D

one thing i want to add... i did exact same thing, 3 months ago with my pink colt. after few days of being chopped up in pieces, i find it hard to attach to a piece of lr. the tissue would be torn and colt would detach itself from the lr. made many attempts to keep them in place, but failed... i...

same here.... i notice my brown and green's, grows much faster then the ones that i want to spread. ie... pink, orange and blues. :confused:

everthing is 0 out... ca is 470, alk is 6 heres a picture of what it used to look like.

only thing that comes up is hermits and shrimps, but i really doubt they would eat my ricordea. i've had the ricordea's for about 6 months now. notice them start disappearing the last few weeks.

plus their salt container is great to use for top offs :D

i had a dozen ricordea's on a piece of lr. now there is only 4 left, whats going on? have them place near the top of the tank with low water flow. any chance it could be eatin by something?

hmmmm, mine stays really blue, thats why i run dual vho's along with it. what brand bulbs do you use?

coolio! i got rid of most of my lr and softies a month ago, just to (hopefully) get my tank to look like yours!
