    HELP missing chromis?!

Fish die, many times for no reason that we will ever know, the other fish, snails, crabs, worms eat the dead fish you will probably never find it. As long as your ammonia levels don't go up then don't worry about it.

    Micro Bubbles Need Help

Do you have any baffels in the sump? How big is your return pump and did you plumb a ball valve on the return just after the pump. Many times it is just a matter of too much flow through the sump, if you turn the pump down then it will probably make the bubbles go away.

    Removing GSP

If you want to save it to sell it then you will have to find a way to pry it off or break off some of the rock, If you just want to kill it you can "smother" it with some aquasafe putty, it is a two party epoxy putting and if you put it on top of the GSP it will kill them.

    R/O Experts advice needed

Honestly after you buy all new filters and membrane you could buy a whole new unit. That polishing filter is no good for reef tanks, somehow it increases the TDS (take it off and the TDS drops). I personally like airwaterice units. Go with a 5 stage: Sediment, Carbon, Carbon, membrane, DI.

What do you do for a living?

Well my career was a zookeeper, then I became a SAHM when a suprise pregnancy turned out to be twins, I now own a Saltwater aquarium maintenance Business and my husband is Project manager for a Construction company (our main income) and he builds aquarium stands and custom build-ins as a side job.

    good tank prices?

Really you are very limited on finding tanks out there. I personally wouldn't buy a tank from a lot of the companies out there that have cheaper tanks. Just look at places like glasscages warranty and their records. My opinon is go with the companies that have been around a long time, make...

chiller and live sand vs. crushed coral

Since you only need to drop the temp of your tank two degrees (without a fan) then I cannot imagine you needing a chiller. 82 degrees Farenheit is a good temp for a reef tank (most reefs are right around that). A fan should be able to drop the temp 2degrees without causing that much evaporation.

    Another lighting question

I think that sounds like a good plan. FYI they do make a black egg crate, If your only hang up on using egg crate is the look. I always prefer MH and open top vs, pc's and glass tops.

chiller and live sand vs. crushed coral

What is wrong with a lot of evaporation? I would imagine a chiller vs fans would decrease amount of evaporation, but to me the $$ of a chiller and the logistics of where to place the chiller would be a bigger issue, and I like a lot of evporation gives me a good way to dose Kalk to maintain...

Is a 20% water change ok?

20% water change no problem, a lot of people do 20% changes as standard practice. Sand in the QT tank is also no problem, I prefer to QT with a bit of sand on the bottom and some baserock. Just be aware if you do have a problem like ich you will need to start over with new sand and rock, or let...

    White "cobwebby" stuff on rock

I have had that on cycling tanks before, I assume it is some sort of bacteria. nothing to worry about it will go away in time.

    ammonia/ carbon

What brand of test kit are you using? My guess is a false reading, aquarium pharm. test kits are notorious for false ammonia at .25 Have it tested with a different brand kit.

    Only 1 Angel Per Tank!!!!

Very nice fish, you did pick three of the more "docile" Large Angels. I have been reading post of yours since you started on these boards Mystic and you get so upset at people flaming you, but the way you post sort of eggs them on, just like the title and content of this post, it is very easy to...

I need help with my brand new RO unit....

Do you have a TDS meter? If not get one, EVERYONE should have a TDS meter. If the water test at 0 then you are fine, but it doesn't sound right, it should be the other way around.

    RO Water from Walmart

Testing for RO or Distilled water. 1. First test the Total Dissolved Solids (TDS), you can buy a very inexpensive meter for $20, I don't use water in my tanks that is higher than 5ppm on a reef or 15ppm on a Fish only. 2. Test with a FRESHWATER test kit: Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Phosphate...

Large water change? Will the tank re-cycle?

I agree a huge water change really won't hurt, but I would use some RO/DI water, there is more junk in tapwater than just nitrates, Have you tested your tap for Phosphates? Or just get a TDS meter ($20) and test that.

Can new powerheads cause temp to rise?

Power heads most definetly add heat to an aquarium, they are a motorized pump after all. 82 is actually the temp I shoot for in my aquariums, very close to natural reef temps. But if you want to cool your aquarium, remove the glass tops, and blow a fan across the top of the water. Aiming a...

    Am I missing anything?

one thing you may want to think about is the Coralife superskimmers are very big, round in diameter. Also there is no prefilter for them, so if everything is HOB in this tank you will most likely have an issue with surface scum. You might want to look for a Aqua C Remora Pro (with Mag3) and...
