Does anyone have a cold water saltwater tank?

you would need a chiller and a small tank, I have always wanted to do a nano and keep a catalina goby, certainly not as cold of a tank as you are talking about but to answer your question, I have not met anyone doing a cold water tank.

    Moving a tank....

What you are suggesting is the "safest' route. But if it were me I would probably just drain the water down (probably have to catch some of the bigger fish), slip some of those furniture moving slides under the stand, slide it into the kitchen (assuming the kitchen is on the same floor of the...

    Can Zoas kill...me?

There are certain types that are more toxic than others and it is more dangerous if you are cutting the tissue, just don't handle them without gloves if you have a cut, and be sure to wash your hands after fragging or handling them. It is something to be aware of but nothing to freak out over.

my blue bubble coral is bleeding

my LPS expel waste that look just like what Meg&Ryan was describing, I would think it is that before expelling zooxanthellae, which is not a common thing.

What is a good power head to get?

Don't get powersweeps, they do not last long in a saltwater aquarium, they stop roatating very quickly, last maybe a couple months in my experience. I personally like the SEIO water pumps, they have a wide flow like the very expensive TUNZE water pumps. but they cost a lot less.

    Another New Tank Stocking Question!

If you want a small toby puffer like a valentini I think you need to probably swap it for one of the other fish on your list, I think you would be overstocked with the puffer also. I Love the Valentini puffers, so much personality but a nice small size.

    Goby question

I am setting up a new tank, it is a 45gallon, almost cube, 24" long, 18" wide 24" high. It is going to be a reef tank with a 4-5" DSB. I would really like to put in two different shrimp/goby pairs. I was thinking about a yashe Hase/randalls pistol, and a pink watchman/tiger pistol. Since...

12' lighting do they sell any higher then 10watts???

you need to look for power compact lighting, regular NO bulbs are not going to cut it. you could do two 13w power compacts (they are around 8" long).

Nitrates still insane!!! Any other help???

The only type of filtration that is going to help with nitrates is a algae scrubber (refugium with macro algae). If it were my tank I would probably add some more LR, LR does have nitrate reducing abililties.

    temp at 83F, too hot?

not too hot, but what does the temp drop to after lights turn off, a drop of more than 2 degrees is what is dangerous. If I were you I would add a fan, keep the temp 81-82, and be sure your heater keeps the water at least 81 when the lights are off.

Nitrates still insane!!! Any other help???

My first question is what test kit are you using and if you have gotten a second opinion with a different test. Second, I would do bigger water changes, like 20 gallons every week, until the levels drop, and reduce feedings even more, like feed 1/2 cube 3 times a week, until levels go down. I...

    Euro Reef Skimmer Question

I am sure there are other euroreef users out there who can tell you how to adjust it. I am pretty sure you adjust the level of water in the skimmer by moving the sponge on the outflow tube up and down.

    I am desperate!

Honestly sometimes it just takes time for the cloudiness to go away, if you tests are measuring correctly and you have the proper stuff in your tank then it is just a time thing. Some things I would do if I were you, double check your tests, either take a sample to the LFS or test some fresh...

    Salifert Calcium test

James, kalk is really best at maintaining Calcium, you are better off using something like Turbo Calcium if you want to raise the level of calcium, just do it carefully and slowly.
