    Help! HARD CYCLE!

I wouldn't worry about scrubbing them, but you can take the end of your siphon hose and suck some of the junk off the rocks.

    actinic 03 blue

It is the blue light that you mix with 10k, by itself your tank will look very blue. You want both types of light. If you only have a spot for one bulb get a 50/50, it is a mix of actinic blue and daylight.

    Help! HARD CYCLE!

you have a couple choices 1. do nothing, eventually it will all come down to normal levels, running your skimmer may help. 2. Start doing water changes, this will bring your levels to more normal condition, this will not prolong or upset you cycle even though many on this board will tell it it...

    sixline wrasse

The ones I have had and seen are beautiful. If the fish in the LFS was stressed or just come out of the bag or if it was sleeping the colors may not be as bright. Normal healthy coloration is very bright and pretty. They are great fish, but they can be aggressive to newcomers so should be one...

    Lighting and Additive Question

440 calcium is just fine, if it drops below 400 then I would correct it. But all three are connected (pH, alk, Ca) so you need to test them and adjust alk and Ca as needed.

    Lighting and Additive Question

Honestly if you do not plan to put corals in the tank then just simple NO (normal output) flourescent lights are great. They are cheap to use and cheaper to replace. To get coralline to grow you will need bulbs made for saltwater aquariums, I like one bulb to be a 10k daylight bulb and the other...

does anyone turn off power heads at night?

this is only my personal preference, but I don't really like to put any crabs in my tanks, They just seem to eat the snails even if you have plenty of shells for them to move into. I think snails do a better job than crabs, I like: Nassarius snails (eat leftover food and keep sandbed stirred)...

does anyone turn off power heads at night?

I don't and never have, some people have powerheads on a wavemake and it can either slow them down or stop them at night. It certainl couldn't hurt, if you were going to do it, I would put them on a timer so you don't forget to turn them back on. That is great about your readings. Sometimes...

    Lowering nitrate levels

Yeah, I would feed every other day at the most, anemones do not need to be fed every day, maybe twice a week, the clowns every other day once a day at the most.

Getting off to a bad start

That is what I meant Tom, are you using the the same tank manufacturer?

Getting off to a bad start

Did you go with a different tank maker this time? I would be a bit wary honestly. Any tank should be able to handle 1/32" of an inch off, that is almost nothing.

Okay I have to ask this...

Darth- nitrite levels are not lethal or dangerous to fish, just ammonia levels, so the fact that ammonia is at .25 and nitrites at .50 says to me that the levels are coming down and water changes will be more than adequate.

Getting off to a bad start

was it 1 1/4 or 1/4" you have both listed, I certainly hope it was not 1/4", My husband and I build stands for a acrylic tank builder and we have been told that acrylic tank stands need vertical support every two feet, they must be perfectly level and there must be a piece of 3/4" plywood on...

What would be the lowest Salinty level my Sea Star (Choc chip) could handle ...

1.012 will not kill ich, I agree with Jdragunas you need to read up on hypo. You "can" do hypo on a FO tank, but be aware that it will most likely kill any inverts in the tank including the pods and worms in your LR, it will not kill the bacteria in the tank, it can kill all the coralline, the...

    Nano Cube vs. Aquapod

Welcome to the board, I would not recommend a eclipse tank, they really limit your options for lighting and filtration. I would actually advise you to not get one of those pre-fab type systems. Get a 24 or 30 cube and get your own equipment and lighting, you will get much better equipment for...
