movies like that which are good in acting and dont rely on special effects Okay the movie was King Kong, the whole point of this movie was special effects, if you didn't like it that is fine, but you have to admit the special effects were really good, and if that is the point of the movie then...

It is certainly a male dominated hobby, but I think more and more women are getting into it. Message boards are just another outlet for us gabby women to talk more :joy: Maybe that is why you see a lot of women on message boards.

BangGuy Need you once again Help,Trouble in the 120

I am not Bang, but I agree with what you said, weekly water changes of around 20% and STOP adding chemicals. Tank should level out in a month or two.

Sooooo, King Kong, Whos Seen It?

I went and saw it at a VIP room at a cinemark theater, Leather reclining seats in a private theater that seats about 50 people. A full bar to order from and a waiter that brings you food and drinks during the movie, very good appetizers and free refills on soda, and a private bathroom very close...

    My first SWF.com Order (Advise)

They should be fine, you can either leave them in the box until you get home, or have your wife open the box and float the stuff (be sure the lights are off until the stuff is out of the bag). Or do what I always did, take a loooong lunch.

    Bak-Pak BioBale

I took mine out, but it certainly won't hurt to rinse it in SALTWATER, and only saltwater, this will keep the bacteria alive but get rid of the crud.

High nitrates...can't get them down at all.

THis is the info from Kent Marine's DEIONIZER, it does 200gpd with no waste water: The DEION200R is a 3 stage 200 gallon per day deionization unit with clear canisters. These filters will provide the purest water possible. This unit will remove over 99.9% of tap water contaminants, providing...

High nitrates...can't get them down at all.

That is good bonebrake the stuff around here is over 100, our tap around here is over 300 though. I have a hard time getting 0 TDS from my own RO/DI water, we have some crappy tap water in my city. Biowheels are actually unecessary if you have adequate LR, some people think they contribute to...

High nitrates...can't get them down at all.

Sorry, my mistake, when I am talking about DI, I meant RO/DI, The water from the grocery store is NOT RO/DI it is RO only. there is no DI unit on those machines, only reefkeepers and scientist use RO/DI water. Water used for drinking is only RO water.

High nitrates...can't get them down at all.

Wait, where am I incorrect? You can read all the info you want from a RO manufacturer but until you take a TDS meter and measure TDS from RO water Distilled water and RO/DI water don't say that I am wrong. I guarantee the RO/DI water will have the lowest TDS readings. I have yet to see a RO...

    RO water from walmart

I would test that water with a TDS meter if it were me, RO water is only as good as the filters. I don't use any water in my tanks with a TDS above 5.

    Skimmer or Filter

look for a used aqua C remora, or a used bak pak, I like the remora better, but the CPR is still a good skimmer, you can find them used all the time.

High nitrates...can't get them down at all.

RO water is fine to use... the Di process is just a finishing touch on RO water, basically just polishes the water... RO/Di units are expensive and the Di filters need to be replaced often and are expensive... Reply With Quote This is incorrect, get a TDS meter, measure your TDS from just RO...

    Penguin BIO-Wheel 350

Save your money on the protien skimmer> Look for good deals on used skimmers like the Aqua C Remora's. I just picked up a used Pro for $100. HOB filters have limited use in Saltwater tanks, I only use them for surface aggitation and running carbon occasionally. With enough LR and circulation...

High nitrates...can't get them down at all.

okay, that above post was difficult to read for me, possibly some good info but delivery was very confusing. Here is what I would recommend. First re-test your water with a test kit that is actually accurate those dip test aren't even worth the paper they are printed on. I only recommend these...

ok to use tap water for first water change?

If you cannot get RO water easily, then distilled is a very good alternate source. I disagree with the statement that doing a water change during the cycle removes bacteria, there is not a lot of bacteria in the water itself it mainly grows on the surfaces in your tank, doing a water change if...

    HOB Overflow with Cannister Filter?

If you have the rio pump for your Bak Pak skimmer then you can buy a preskimmer for it and it works really well. I have also seen some people make a surface skimmer with just a powerhead and a rubbermaid square container, they cut teeth into the rubbermaid, cut a hole for the powerhead output...
