i can tell you alittle about some of the things on your list. the sting ray, lion, porkfish, puffer and blue hippo would be good canidates for an agressive tank. stay away from any small fish with lions, puffers and eels. the mandarin is going to need a well established tank with at least 100...

they will reproduce and die off. if you are able to look at your tank with a red flashlight at night you will probably see a ton of the running around.

sounds like pods to me. they are a natural part of any tank with live rock.

i have heard if you get a box fish you want to add it first to the tank to reduce the likely hood of it getting stressed and poisoning your tank. also they are very slow eaters so you would have to take special care to make sure it gets enough to eat. hth

they are q tip sponges. good thing.

i have some green mushrooms that do that also. i think it is normal.
