    lighting for chaeto

I leave mine on 24/7 also. THe reason people sayto run them opposite of the DT is it will help keep your ph up after the lights go out in the DT. Either way is fine. As far as growth goes I think it will grow faster with lights on all the time but really it depends on what you have in the water...

    ...Flame Scallop...

I have had one for over a year now. I used to spot feed it but one day it dissapeared. After a while I feared it to be dead. But the other day I upgraded to my 180 and removed all the rock out of my 55 and there he was as happy as could be. But He is about 3'' now so he might not have long to live.

Massive tank crash, little help please!

Are you sure you are talking nitrites and not nitrates? IMO if you nitrites are 5.0 your fish should already be dead. And if there not I would have to agree with Joe and thats your top priority. If you are talking nitrates I would not worry about it and go after the ICH first.

how much light is too much?

no no the attinic run the ati and keep it low. I am talking the mh hang it over the tank of you can about 12 - 18 and you will be fine. You might have to raise or lower it depending on the corals and stuff you want to keep. But that is a good starting point.

how much light is too much?

Well the 150 is on the high side for the depth of the tank. But it will be fine just keep it up. And the attnic wont make a difference at all.

how much light is too much?

also just a thought try to see if you can trade the 150 for a 70 that would be better for the tank. But a 150 will work

    Brown Algae

well I dont know how much alge you got but yes diatoms should go away and the lights you got will be fine for coraline alge and some corals. The bio wheel filter I do not recomend but is fine. However it can and most likely will cause nitrates down the road. I would go sump but thats just my...

    Brown Algae

sounds like it is a fairly nwe tank with diatom alge. It is common in new tanks and will go away on its own. I call it part of your cycle but the ulgy part of your cycle.

    Does Loud Music Irritate Fish?

dude I have a drum set sitting about 5ft away from my tank. And my brother has a full stack for his guitar. Trust me it bothers the nieghborhood alot more than my tank. I think at first it will scare them but evrything will adapt to there enviroment.

blue damsel and blue reef chromis, get along?

I am not saying no. But damsils are just mean fish and dont get along with nothing. But I have 2 chromis and a blue damsil with no real problems but I got the chromis first and after.

how much light is too much?

actually a 150 should be fine. Even with the attinic. But you will have to have the mh up I would say about 12-18'' off the water. Not sure how deep a 20 gal is but I have 2 X 250 mh and 2X54 t5 attinic over my 55 with no issues. Also have a fan blowing at the light to lower heat issues and you...
