honestky I would get rid of the first compart all together and stick you skimmer there so you have a bigger fuge and like scopus said add a bubble trap by the return pump

Is the baffle leaking water or just moving. The reason I ask my brothers baffle was wiggleing but still was sealed good the keep the water lavel for the skimmer and what we did was simple. We drained the sump a little and superglued the top of it in place. It has never moved again.

My best advice woud be wait a couple weeks and slow down on adding so many fish. You are putting qutie a bioload quickly in there. Not saying the 150 cant handle it but let it catch up to the bio load. I added way less fish than you when I setup my 180 but once you add 1 to many you will regret...

That is true but what is he point of even putting sand or mud in there. The is no real benefit unless you have 6'' or better and in a hob that dont leave much room for chetao. I would use a little rubble rock and chetao. I have no mechanical filtration in my 180 with no problems

I have never had that type of filter so I would need to see a pick of it. Also to be honest you will probably be ok without turning it down. Most hob filters dont reall have a lot of flow to begin with.
