    Yet another clam ID

Ok guys what are the views of a calcium reactor? I did read the thread "dripping with kalkwasser 101" That's where I got the idea. I believe I will continue with the KentCB part B until it comes up. Unfortunately there are 2 LFS in this area and neither carry any of the things I need. It...

Should I continue with my dosing of the Kents TechCB part A&B? What to get my Alk and Dkh down. Would continuing with the Kents eventually raise Calcium if I increased the amount, or is this what's causing the Alk and Dkh to run high? Or should I start dripping with limewater without any...

can't seem to get my coraline to spread???

i seem to have more Coraline than I want sometimes. I have to scrape it off the front glass about every 3 days. The back is completely covered and the sides are too where I don't keep it scraped off. when I scrape it off I just leave it lying on the bottom and it spreads like crazy.

    Yet another clam ID

By rescuing I mean I've had the clam about a week and I got it the day after it arrived at the LFS. And, probably not the best of either. Yes, when a fish swims overhead it does retract back into its shell, or if anything gets close to it. I am going to do a water test in just a few minutes...

    just got a Xenia

In my exerience, they need water movement that moves the arms but not bent over in a strong current. Let them sway a bit. Any number of things will cause them to close up. Strong water current, even fish swimming into them, or any other critters that get into them. Watch where you place them...

Believe it or not that is as far as I've seen it open. I've had it about a week. It looked like that when I bought it. Or should i say rescued it if you know what I mean. The Crocea needs to be put on a rock if I'm not mistaken right? I'm just glad my first experience with posting pictures...

    Reef Crystals for live rock?

350-450 is a good reading for calc. It's true, if your Coraline is turning white your calcium level is being depleted.

Coraline Algae on Glass... Good or Bad?

Coraline algae is a good thing, why?, Im not sure. I know that a lot of people are having a hard time growing it. As for me, I am having trouble keeping it off the front of mine. The back and sides are covered. If anyone knows the benefits of coraline I too would like to know. On another...

    Quick Live Sand Question

Yes after a while even play sand mixed with live sand will become live sand. The same goes for base rock becoming live rock. The critters and bacteria will eventually spread every where, which is a good thing..

Snow Flake Eel in my 16 Gallon Tank

When I got my SFE a little over a year ago it was about the size of my little finger (diameter) and about 8" long. Now it is about 1 1/2" in diameter and almost 18" long. And it will (I promise) rearrange every live rock in your aquarium...Talk about a sand sifter !!!!!

    D.T.'s Phytoplankton.

Yes....DT's Phytoplankton is going to smell really badly. Your suppose to keep it refrigerated AND, your suppose to shake it up about every other day. Most people will put it in the door of the refrigerator so that when the door is opened it will cause the bottle to roll around keeping the...

    Is this Aiptasia?

I have some aptasia in my tank too. I tried giving them a bath with kalk and they died back a little then came back. I have had really good luck with the hot water method. I just got a cup of boiling water and dosed them with a syringe. It worked for me. And yes, you too will learn to hate...

New tank, floval 304 and seaclone 100 protein skimmer

I had a seaclone 100 and I was forever adjusting the flow because it quit making bubbles if the water level went down any. It seemed to do the job, I just didn't like having to adjust the air flow all the time. The valve on the end of the air intake seems to be the culprit. The air inlet...
