what kind of clown is it? Percula or ocellaris? maroon? clarki?etc.

    pre planning

Wow... First thing...stop everything. You are moving too fast and headed for disaster. A huma huma and a YT is already too much for a 55 when considering adult size and adding them all at once is also a mistake. How long has tank been up and running? Did it fully cycle before adding fish? Who is...

What do you think about more fish?

I would play it safe and only add the flame or Rg not both. Here's my reasoning.... With water displacement my guess is you have about 42-43 gallons of actual water in the tank and about 18 inches of adult size fish.. That gives you 2.4 g's per inch of fish. Many would say stop there. Since...

    Fish for Thanksgiving

Flamehawk has great personality and is quite hardy. Gets my vote. When counting water displacement your tank is already on the edge especially with the tang. As such if you must have the flamehawk it s/b your last fish. Happy Turkey day!

    "The Tank Gang"

Welcome. Moorish (Gil) is out of course. I also wouldn't put more than 2 clowns and the RG in the tank. Why tempt fate with another fish? These 3 will get along fabulously and live a long healthy life. WHen you count water displacement caused by substrate , and live rock, you will actually have...

    New web page for SWF.com?

wonder why it was changed. Agree reply box tiny and preffered old format.....but if this how it has to be then so be it. WE can always choose not to log on I guess.....

    fish size?

50 years in the wild. Have not heard of any tang lasting that long in captivity. Also agree that we should always plan on having our fish fir comfortably in their sorroundings based on adult size> Don't agree that we should just buy and hope that they are still alive at adulthood and then trade...

    Pet co ??

Wow got a bit rough here....one of the reasons I've stayed away for a bit was because of these types of posting's which really don't do anyone any good....especially me who gets too passionate about things. On the topic....I've been to 4 different pet-co's and actually have bought fish from one...

    purple tang and blue hippo?

After some jousting it s/b ok. Good luck.

    yellow tang

I also think a YT in a 55 is ok. Some folks on this board who I respect implicidly will disagree...but thats what sometimes makes things interesting. Good luck.

    question about future tank makes.........

Your selections are super and If you do choose to add anythign else, stay on the small side. A royal gramma or a flame hawk would add some additional color. I commend you on doing it right and asking first before doing. There are great opinions on how long between fish....my opinion is anywhere...

better fish for me flame angel or coral beauty?

If your tank has been up for a while(4-5 months ) with no problems, I would go with the coral beauty. Flames are great looking fish but are rumored to be caught with cyanide in many places because of their high demand. For this reason I stay away from them....Too many stories about 'sudden death...

    Coral beauty

Wow!..... Hope everyone channels that energy into doing whats right for the overall well being of the fish. In the case of the Pygmy...yes he will survive. In fact he'll probably do OK. He'll do better in the 55 ....more rock to graze...more room to roam...more suitable then a 25. As far as...

    Flame and Emperor Angels?

If your tank is 2 years old it's well established. You already have about 18 inch of fish in a 75 which is really more like 65 when counting for water displacement. I'd add the flame first then add the emperor AND BE SURE TO GET THE LARGER TANK. YOU WILL NEED IT. Good luck.

    Spotted hawk

Sorru about your shrimp. Hawks and cleaner shrimp don't mix. I've had a flame and and falco hawk in my 125 for over 3 years and all is well. People say hawks are a bit aggressive but I've never seen them be aggressive except towards their food. a

    Spotted hawk

Cleaner shrimp , as you found out the hard way, will not last w/ hawkfish. AS far as 2 hawks in a tank, I have a flame and spotted(falco) in a 125 w/ no probs. They're great fish. I think a falco or flame in a 15 or 20 s/b fine. Plenty of L/R needed.

    berlin skimmers good or bad?

My experience with berlins has been terrible. I would definately stay away from them. There was a time when I thought the seaclone was not a good skimmer but now relatively speaking it's better then berlin. Berlin does not seem to be able to get their act together on the pump that powers their...
