I get all my bulbs (MH & VHO) through mail order and I only had a problem once for a busted bulb and the company immeadiatly sent me another one for no charge and did not even request me to send back the broken one.

Do you know if it is a constant giving off of the chemical or if it is when it detects a threat?

That could mean 2 things. 1. You must have high phosphates and/or nitrates or 2. the coral is dying and the algea is taking over the weekend polyp.

Like I said I don't think there is any chemical warfare going on b/c I still se fast growth I just think ther eis bleaching due to coverage.

I have right now some mushroom that come in contact on a daily bases with the base of an acro frag. The base shows sighns of bleaching (probably from not getting light), but the rest of the colony continues to grow.

My tank is mostly SPS and Clams and I use a MAG 24 from the sump into 2 jets that are pointed at each other on a slight angle so when they collide the water kind of "spatters' in a deifferent directions. It works good for me.
