well it depends. how many days are you into your cycle. you may not have high levels of anything yet. its hit or miss. hopefully you get lucky and this little polyp lives and gives you a bunch more.

Those things are virtually indestructable. It may close up for a while, but will open up again after the water parameters get better.

the lighting should be fine on the pod because they do not need high light. im not sure is the other Brown Star Polyps. if so the brown tips may be the polyps poking outa the mat. this is not bad so dont worry. they should come out in a day or two.

mine took around three days. what i noticed helped was not to have the current affecting them unitl they open. just make sure that stuff doesnt build up on them. GSP are awesome. Once it gets big enough just cut the mat up and sell it back to the store. Hope this helps good luck.

i used to have bad flatworms all over the rics in my tank. i just took the rics out put them in a little tupperware, and slid my fingers across the polyps brushing off the flatworms. not sure how reliable it is but ive heard that arrowcrabs may eat them along with bristleworms. hope this helps.
