    mh bulbs - brands

Here is my list I have: frogspawn, hammer, toadstool, zoos, star polyps, candy cane, gallaxea, colt coral, monti and anenome. I think thats it if I remember. My current bulbs are 14k single ended, I don't have actinics so I enjoy some of the blue they give off. I thought about going to 20k...

    mh bulbs - brands

Thanks for the quick reply. I will study this some. My LFS is telling me to get south pacific sunlight brand. Anybody had any luck with these ? I had "grow bulbs" by someone I can't remember, I saw not true growth though on my corals, lol

    mh bulbs - brands

I have googled my eyeballs out and can't find what I'm looking for. I want to replace to 2 -250w 14k mh bulbs on my 75 gal. I want to find an article or non-biased study on performance of brands to compare things like par or coral growth, etc. Has anyone got anything or seen anything like this ...

    elevating rock with pvc stand

Which I could find some good pics so I can get in my mind that may work. I want to reaqauascape with mroe height and further back in the tank therefore opening up some sand bed in the front. I don't really want to tie rocks together or run piping through rocks so they stay together or any of...

    elevating rock with pvc stand

Has anyone ever used a pvc stand or built something similar to elevate rock ? I think I could rig something with eggcrate and pvc to sit rock on to get higher in my tank but my biggest concern is hiding the end of the pvc or front. Any ideas ? Anyone ever tried this and what were the + or - 's.

    crazy rock question

I am considering reaquascaping - the problem is while I have a few pretty cool rocks, some of them are not that usable for corals. I bought them early in the hobby when I had a fowlr. So what I'm wondering is has anyone every drilled holes into fuji lr or any other lr ? I thought it would make...

    recomendations on protien skimmers?

Don't have one here at work but google INS 80 reefdynamics and you can see it. One cool thing is if you have a type space the collection cup comes off by turning a big plastic nut and it just slides off. In other words you don't have to have much space over the collection cup to pull it out.

MH vs T5HO, Power Usage and Benfits?

When I had lids the salt creep constantly was an issue. Keeping it clean so light could get through, etc. You need good surface agitation for oxygen exchange etc. Until I went topless I was always fighting to keep my PH up and since then I have had no issues, it really helped.

MH vs T5HO, Power Usage and Benfits?

I have a 4foot long 75 gallon and run to 250watt mh 14k. My DT is open and I have a fan running in my canopy. It provides plenty of light and since I went topless I have had less problems with PH stabilization. I am addicted to the shimmer of MH and really prefer them, but the "look" part of...

    Live rock only as filtration?

I never got one for my son's biocube because everyone on the forums I talked to said that the nano skimmers don't work well at all. I guess its a personal choice....

    Live rock only as filtration?

My son has a 14 biocube and does 2 gallon water changes every other week. He does not have skimmer. In the back chambers we have replaced bioballs slowly over time with rubble rock and he uses Seachem gel to control nitrates and phosphates. It has worked really well. We also have a sponge placed...

attn mathematicians or cheaters wqith calculators!!!!

Makes sense. I am looking at it the same way you are explaining. Now, next point is that my calcium is 480 because my salinity is so high. I know the IO reef crystals have high Ca if you get salinity too high. As I bring down salinity and therefore calcium, will this bring my KH in line a little...

attn mathematicians or cheaters wqith calculators!!!!

    I want to bring my salinity on my tank from 1.029 to about 1.026. I know to do this slowly, but how do I calculate ? I have a 75 gal. If I do a 10% water change do I calculate 1.029 x 9 and say 1.023 x 1 thus gettting 9.261 + 1.023 = 10.284 and divide by 10 getting 1.0284 ? That would be...

    seachem 8.4

Just spoke with Seachem. They say to continue with this product and even twice a day if need be until alkalinity balances with calcium. Calcium being a little high it may take a little longer but she said it would come up. Patience as usual. Thanks for the contact number
