I combined two methods and boiled lemon juice in the microwave. Sucked it up into a plastic syrige that you can get at most drug stores (no needle, that would be dangerous) and squirted alitle till the buggers turned dark and shriveled.

So, if it doesn't get used very often, is it best to just use tank water to fill it then add meds and dump when its done?

thanks guys. I kinda thought the llive stuff might give problems. I also liked the idea about a hospital tank and a QT tank as seperate tanks. Maybe I'll go for my tiny tank as a hospital tank and get a 10 gal for QT for the new stuff (no meds added). Kinda like a temporary show tank.

It seems kinda sad sometimes. Some of my favorite things so far has been scanning the live rock and finding tiny feather dusters or other fun things. Yeah, I'm a dork too, I think this forum is full of dorks. It's great.

I agree with jedi I love finding all the new stuff on my LR. i have just as much fun scanning the LR for tiny things as I do checking out the fish. They other day I found about 6 tiny feather dusters (.5 cm).

So let the shrimp rot away and add the cleaning crew in after the full competion of the cycle? And do regular water changes. I thought the nitrites were supposed to drop on their own. doesn't water changes take away the nutrients the bacteria need?:notsure:

Thanks, thats what I was hoping. Besides doing water tests, is a sign of the end of the cycle natural decrease in the algae or does it take a cleaning and a cleaning crew?
