    I use Oceanic, it dissolves almost instantly and therefore is much easier to mix. I don't use additives aside from a small dose of calcium every now and again to keep my coralline algae nice and happy. My light cycle is: actinic 10am - 10pm full spectrum white 11am - 9pm

    Have you ever used medications in that tank? How old/big is the maroon? You may wanna find her a mate. Once you get the correct lighting and start adding some calcium, that white rock will be covered in pretty purple coralline algae in no time.

    Sexy shrimp are usually available only in spring/summer time. Wednesday my LFS is getting me 3 sexies for $5 each:D CBS usually won't tolerate other shrimp near their territory, I'm glad yours is a peaceful one. I'm too affraid to try one...I'm like you, I love my shrimp too much:)

    There really shouldnt be anything settling on the sand bed. Thats an indicator of poor circulation....but to answer your quesiton, No, they will not eat fish poop, but they will eat left over food and dead fish bodies. Shrimp should be kept in social groups of at least 2. They are very sociable...

    Here are my my pink mushrooms in the foreground. Behind them is my colt coral. Softies are very pretty and easy to maintain. I higly recommend them.
