    Day 1

Go to your nearest supermarket and get 1 raw jumbo shrimp, (some places won't even bother charging you), put it in your tank and let it decompose to start the cycle, you can take out whats left of it after a week, but if you have crabs in there they'll pretty much be your garbage disposal.

    Nori???

Yaki nori is roasted seaweed, no added flavors. Ajitsuke nori is seasoned nori. Yours should be fine. I bought Shirakiku brand yaki nori. The fish enjoy it until the shrimp get a hold of it. If you compare nori brands some look more brown, some more green. I go with the green but thats just...

Sorry to laugh at your hardships sw65galma, it's just funny seeing all those ruined tank shots with the culprit nowhere to be found, like a hit and run job.

Every describe your CRAZY CLOWNFISH QUIRKS...

When my tank-bred perc used to live in the Nanocube she figured out she didn't have to swim in her sleep at night if she slept next to the grill intake and let the suction hold her in place. :happyfish

    You know you're addicted when.......

:happyfish You decline a party invitation or outing with friends because you have a 'prior engagement'... with your tank. :happyfish Your tank is fully stocked but you still drive to the lfs and spend an hour or two looking at the new arrivals, then drive home empty-handed and satisfied.

    Lighting for 20g. FOWLR

I'm probably going tommorrow to get another bulb (15w flourescent). They sell 50/50 (6.5k), 10K, and 20K. Just can't decide which one. :help:

can i keep it in my reef tank??

I think its a tassle filefish. They're peaceful but not reef-safe and will eventually need a large tank. You should find a home for him soon, in the mean time feed him mysis shrimp and meaty foods. He is cute though. How did he end up in your tank?

    temp to high

Put a small fan over an open space in the back of the tank so the air hits the water surface.

    Lighting for 20g. FOWLR

Is a 20k too much light for a 20g.H fowlr? I need to replace my light and would like it to appear brighter (currently has a UV bulb), I've read the 10k looks yellow. Does the 20k heat up more? I also have some shrimp and dusters and would like to get some coraline growth on the rocks.

neon dottyback.... to add or not to add

The bright colors aren't worth the pain and torture. I had a bicolor dottyback that I introduced to a perc and a blenny and within an hour it owned the tank and the fish. It kept the clown in the corner and the blenny in hiding. I isolated it in a container inside the tank for a day, when I...

    The Best Goby

Diamonds and Sleepers are large gobies. The only sand-sifting goby small enough for a 10g. would be a Twinspot (Signigobius biocellatus, sold here as 4 wheel drive goby). Otherwise the ones sensesfail mentioned, watchman or jawfish , which have a lot of character. :happyfish

    Bi-colour Blenny with stripes?

Mine goes into camouflage when I look at him up close or take a picture. He hates paparazzi. I don't think missing a cirrhi is a problem, it also serves as camouflage, not sure if it grows back.
