USA Reef 6 st 100GPD Reverse Osmosis RO+DI Water Filter

Your reasoning is correct. What I do is turn it on to fill a five gallon container, It usually fills about half way because of the 3 gallon storage container in about 5 minutes or less. Then I turn it off and wait about 30 minutes to an hour and turn it back on to fill the rest of the way in...

    Electrical Question-fans...

Yes, most computer fans are 12 volts, but DC volts. You can find 120 AC volt computer fans though, you just have to look harder.

    RO/DI Alternative

Golfish, check out this and click on the model M-T1812A100. Although the membrane is manufactured by Applied Technologies, they use DOW materials. Maybe I just found a better brand?http://www.appliedmembranes.com/memb...pec_sheets.htm

It can be fixed by putting a membrane back in.

    RO/DI Alternative

Nas19320 and Golfish, I have a DOW 100 gpd membrane and it is rated at 98% rejection according to the specifications. Why do you both recommend not getting the 100 gpd?

    look here????

Water replentishment from evaporation is not considered a water change. This does nothing for the quality of your water. You need to do salt water changes on a regular basis for the benefit of trace minerals replentishment and overall water quality. It will remove building nitrates as well.

    Pump

Make sure it's not on the suction side of the pump or you'll burn it up.

uhh... Looking to talk to mods?

It's quite clear why a moderator dosen't want to talk to you! Do you know anything about saltwater? Or is it just bandwidth space???

    ID this thing

It's definitely a soft shelled snail. I think Bang Guy or someone gave an exact name one time, but I can't remember what it was. Harmless critter though.

    ID these Alges

Not sure about the red stuff, but the green is sawblade caulerpa. Harmless, good nutrient exporter, but can grow pretty fast.

    Is the tank done cycling???

pH 8.1-8.4 Ammonia-0 Nitrites-0 Nitrates depends on what you have. For fish only 50ppm wouldn't scare me. For a reef, I'd try to keep it below 15 ppm. The closer to zero the better.

    Bang-Mechanical Filtration

At this point of tank maturity I only get about 1/4 of the collection cups full a week. So does that mean good water quality or bad skimming quality? Do you mean if they produce a lot, then they aren't keeping up with the tank needs?

Only had the coco worm about a month. How about the two skimmers? Good enough or not?

    Overflow antisiphon

I understand why you would want this (so tank doesn't drain during power outages), but how do you keep the display tank from overflowing if the overflow gets plugged up? Also, wouldn't this situation burn up the sump pump? :notsure:

    Bang-Mechanical Filtration

Wow, I didn't know coco worms were so sensitive. Why would the foam filters affect the coco worm though? Also, unfortunately I only have the prizm skimmers. Two though, rated at 100 gallons each. I'm planning on getting a good one when I switch to the sump. Is that a show stopper?

    Bang-Mechanical Filtration

I once heard you say that you detest mechanical filtration. I was wondering if it is okay to eliminate mine. To make a long story short, I was set up originally as fish only so I still have a closed loop filtration system that has containers for mechanical filters. I'm currently using very...

need to know flow rate from drain line.

Okay, it all makes sense now, but can I valve off a higher rated pump without any problems?
