    DIY Sump/Refuge Done! PICS!

my tank is not a reef, it is a 90 aggressive with only 50lbs live rock, and 4" dsb. so, if the bioballs are producing nitrate, the caulerpa in my refugium should take care of the nitrates, right? ben

    Ordering Zebra Moray???

I've been wanting a zebra moray for a while, and the lfs sells them for $189! I found a site that sells them for $89 but I'm weary of ordering a fish and having it shipped. I don't believe they sell zebra morays here so I'll list the site: petwarehouse.com. Does anyone have any experience...

    niger trigger Question

give the little trigger some time to get used to his surroundings, and the surroundings outside of the tank. also, a tankmate wouldn't hurt. my niger used to hide all the time, then i threw in a huma, and he's always out (mostly being greedy with the tank and making sure the huma doesn't go in...

    Suggest a Heater?

I want two new heaters for my 90 with sump and refugium. I was looking at the Pro Heat Titanium heaters. If I got two and put them in the sump, what wattages would you suggest? Would you suggest any other heaters over the titanium ones? Thanks. Ben

    Mantis in Refugium?

The one I'm looking at is the smasher, and my main concern is him smashing the glass, which would result in a huge flood. My refugium is a 15 tall, so I'm confident any harvesting of caulerpas will have my hands only halfway in the tank, easily out of harms way. Ben

concern about weight of tank on floor

I don't think you have anything to worry about seeing that it's going on a secure basement floor. Now, if it was going in a 3rd floor attic, then I might have concerns. Ben

    DIY Sump/Refuge Done! PICS!

Here is a view of the refugium that shows the vertical spraybar that is controlled by a ball valve off the mag 12. It also shows the two overflows that feed back into the sump. I'm thinking of putting a mantis shrimp into the refugium to liven it up a bit.

    DIY Sump/Refuge Done! PICS!

Here is the new pyramid spraybar. The original was made with 3/4" pvc, and lots more holes. Well, there wasn't enough flow for the side arms to work, so all the flow came through the center arm. I made a new one out of 1/2" pvc and drilled less holes. There are now 4 in the center, and 6 on...
