This may sound stupid to the 'Sumpers' out there, but if LR is my main filtration then why do I need a filter for my tank when I don't have a sump? The filter sock catches detrius, the cheato removes nitrates but what keeps my water clean and clear? Once again, pardon my ignorance

The spray bars are working well and the wheels are turning and they don't look dirty. I just thought that removing or even replacing them I would be able to lower my trates (40). I have some corals (no SPS) and I want to give them the best shot by getting my trates as low as possible. I do 16%...

Hypo is lowering the salinity content of your water to 1.009 over a period of a few days. Your fish can survive it but the ich parasite can't. I am not sure of the time period of maintaining hypo (a few weeks?), but once you are finished you gradually raise your salinity back up to 1.025.

If you like the aqua c remora then I would get the pro. It is for tanks over 75 gals. I have the regular aqua c remora on my 29 and I am very happy with it

Will removing the biowheels from my emperor 400 help reduce nitrates? Is anybody doing it?

I plan on using 2 maxijet 1200 powerheads in my 50. I will modify them with the sure flow upgrade kit. This will give me 2100 gph from each powerhead. Is this way too much, or will the fact that they are more like wavemakers make them suitable and not cause such direct straight ahead flow?

I quarantine my fish. I don't do hypo though. I would if needed. I just monitor for 3 or 4 weeks and if they are good to go, then in they go to the DT.

What about the main tank? I will have roughly 80 gals. of water. I currently have an emperor 400 for the 29. If I buy another one and have them both on the 50 then I don't thnik it will look too good.
