colt coral

I acclimate all of my corals slowly, adding my tank water to the bag every 15 minutes for an hour and a half. So far, the only corals I have lost were the ones that the rouge bi-color angel ripped up. HTH, cyn

    What is this creature?

Do a search on sea slugs or nudibranches. It sounds like possibly one or the other. Try this link: http://www.bunaken.fsnet.co.uk/sss-sea-slugs.htm HTH, cyn

    creatures of the night!!!

The brown worms may be peanut worms. All of the things you describe sound normal. The 'fleas' sound like pods and so does the little fish thing. The other thing you described I can not help you with, it could be several things from the description. HTH, cyn

thinking about 55 gallon purchase please need help

I too would go for a 75 gal. if I had it to do over. The price sounds good for a 55 though. As far as the hood goes, if it is a standard freshwater hood, you can add lights or buy a canopy down the road. There are several manufacturers of lights that will fit a 55 and support corals with...

    Adding Kalkwasser

I would not use saltwater. I drip Kalk about every third night for the same reasons you describe. I have great circulation and the back of my 55 is open too. My problem is I live where the humidity is always high. I do not agree with dripping Kalk in the morning, everything I have read says...

    Help on getting CA up?

I dose kalsawater nightly and maintain my CA at 450 with out any other additives. I have also never heard of Phos. keeping Ca. down, not in the reef or the body... Hmm.. Gonna look into that. Alk does affect the ability of the water to dissolve CA, posting that may help. Good Luck! cyn

Cycling or The lack of ???

Another vote to turn off the skimmer. The skimmer is removing junk that is needed to fuel the cycle. I am not familiar with your other filter, but I would shut down the skimmer for now. Yes, phos. feeds alge. HTH, cyn
