    75 gallon equipment...

Are you going to try to keep corals, or just fish? Will you want to have docile fish, or trigger fish and angels? Deciding up front will narrow your equipment requirements? it is good that you are asking this first, rather than " my morray is getting to big and I cant find my clownfish"

    DIY Metal Halides

The onesw that they sell at the home improvement stores are of a different spectrum of light than what we like to see in our tanks. Also the less desireable of the algae thrive in this yellow spectrum. I believe that the kelvin rating of the bulbs in Lowe's (phillips brand, I believe) was...

Can't get sun coral to open

Try cutting the bottom out of a 2 liter soda bottle, and placing it over the coral head. Squirt some food in there and it will stay put long enough for the guys to open and eat. After a while they will open as soon as you place the bottle on them...it's kinda cool.

    Sun Coral 911

I just came from the LFS where I bought it and asked them what they thought. They feed theirs twice weekly and have it in a cave, She said that high light will harm them...but I'm not so sure. I think that mine may need to be fed more. I'll let you know

    Sun Coral 911

I also heard that the lighting had no effect on the coral, but I was worried that I had heard wrong. Accordingly, mine is in the front where it can be fed easily and often. I have been feeding cyclopeeze in a 2liter bottle. Perhaps, if I feed more often, it may help. Thanks guys!

    Sun Coral 911

I bought my sun coral back in december. Amazing, and tough to deal with, but I thought I was up to the task. "Water - excellent, chemistry-excellent, ph - excellent" "spot feed weekly" Got it. Unfortunately, this is not the whole story. Anyone who owns these Knows that the only time that...

    R/O Systems

Try this site in "dry goods". Do NOT go to Lowe's or HD (I Did). The one I bought makes 9 gallons per day. Get one that will make at least the ammount of water that you use for a water change. Some people claim that RO/DI water will "strip" the minerals and such from your body. I personnaly...

    MH ?????'s

I ran the 'Sakis for a year and then went to the 10K XM's. I then had an XM "burn out". So I put one of the Iwasaki's back in service for a few days. Wow, what a difference! I personally prefer the XM.

What are acceptable stray voltage values?

Well, I am now opposed to grounding rods. I have some salt creep on the PC bulb on my 'fuge. It got enough continuity to shock the daylights out of me yesterday. Interestingly enough, when my finger grounded the tank, the fish( which were swimming over to get fed) went bezerk for the...

    DIY Coil Denitrator ?

I am aware that "no water changes" is a fallacy. Excess nitrates is not the only enemy. Stronium, calcium, magnesium, and probably nicotine might be depleted. However; less water changes, I do find appealing. Healthy water is all of our objective. I also belive that we are also aware that ther...

Will Cigarette Smoke effect a tank?

I use my tank for an ash tray when I have a really good party. the only side effect that I have noticed has been that the tang is very concerned with the location of my lighter in the AM. I really don't smoke in the house, and if I have been huffing a bunch of camels, or came home from a barn...
