    Blue tang question

My blue tang is currently about 2.5 inches long and I've had him for about 2 months now. He is in a 150G tank with a porc puffer, foxface and a bicolor angel. He is currently the smallest in the tank(though not by much) My question is this...I've read in books and on this site plus other that...

    LFS : California

Compared to most fish stores, yes. They also offer a nice selection for reef tanks and they have a pretty good selection of tanks and equipment.

    LFS : California

It says Tongs on the front. The last few times I was there the tanks were all very clean and the fish looked healthy. The staff that I talked to seemed very friendly and knowledgable.

    porcupine puffer

Mine was extremely shy for a couple of weeks and now he is at times very active. Just give him time to get used to his surroundings and people who take care of him. Mine will only accept handfed food from me.

    Saltwater barracuda

Welcome to the boards. I read in a book or a website at one time that they can get to be about 5-6 feet in length. I really wanted one until I read this and then I changed my mine fast. Sorry to say it will probably outgrow almost any tank you have. Good luck though.

ok questions on tangs and a few others......

I have a foxface and a blue tang in my tank. The foxface is venomous but only shows his spines when spooked. The tang usually hides when I'm cleaning the tank. The foxface is very peacefull and even when my hand is near him he keeps his spines down.

    Puffer issues!

Mine did the same thing when I got him. I thought maybe it was just exploring his new environment. Puffer are pretty intelligent and can recognize people. Try silversides soaked in garlic to get it started. Good luck.

New to the game and have a few questions

Welcome to the boards and a very addictive hobby. I put about 60lbs of base rock and then about 80 lbs of live rock in my 150G. The LFS that helped me set it up gave me a discount on the rock because I bought so much at once. It was a big expense but I knew it before I started the tank. Good...

    new porc puffer not eating

My porc puffer didnt eat for several days when I first got him too. Finally I got him to eat some garlic soaked silversides and since then no problem. Every now and then he will go to where he refuses all food for a few days but then acts like a little pig again. Good luck.

New porcupine puffer, shy and not eating

My puffer hid in the corner for a few days too when I got him. Now he swims all over the tank. Juveniles seem to spook more easily. Mine fed off of a stick after a few days and now he is hand fed. I would not recommend a trigger. I put a niger trigger in with my puffer that was about half the...
