    Powder blue tang

I'm glad the ich disappeared. But; IMO & IME, over time, a QT beats "damn good" every time. BTW, how long have you had the grouper? I'm surprised he hasn't dined on the clowns and damsels yet.

    Longhorn Cowfish?

I think these are one of the most under-appreciated fish in the hobby. They live a long time and (IME) their growth isn't particularly fast. The one I had prior to relocating grew to about 12", then stopped; I've seen them at about 18". I had him at least 12 years. The one I have now: I bought...

    Clean Up Crew For Lions?

I guess i was a little crabby on my post above. Crabs, snails, etc, can add a lot of appeal to a tank. Snails may even be slightly beneficial. My gripe is with the growing misconception that a "CUC" is a vital part of success in our hobby. It isn't. I've seen countless posts, mostly from new...

Anyone out here feed earth worms?

That's one spoiled puffer; usually they'll eat anything. Stop the live food for a while and try some raw shrimp. Cut to size and use a feeding stick at first, if you need to. Several days without live food should have him eating anything.

    55 Gallon

There are other opinions, but; IMO, a 55 is too small for almost any grown butterfly.

    Clean Up Crew For Lions?

IMO, a CUC is the most over-rated and unnecessary invention in the history of this hobby. Great marketing job though!

    55 Gallon

A rock beauty is a very difficult fish, sometimes considered "expert only". If you have plenty of mature LR, most of the other dwarf angels should do OK. Flame, coral beauty, flameback, etc. There are also many beautiful & peaceful fairy and flasher wrasse that you may want to check out.

Lost 2 fish in past month

Losing 2 fish is not all that unusual, especially for a relative newcomer. Could just be co-incidence. BTW; if your clowns are different species (like an ocallaris and a percula); they will probably end up fighting to the death. most single clowns end up female and will not tolerate other clowns...

    The Truth About "Sandsifters"

I've been gone a while, but can still admit I was wrong. I always assumed diatoms were animal life because they have "shells'. I think they do , anyway. Fenner calls them an algae and that's good enough for me. Aren't those shells the ingredient in diatomeceaus (sp) earth--that was once a common...

    The Truth About "Sandsifters"

Me too, but I'm so picky, I rinse the onions first. Olives and gin are a horrible combination; that olive after-taste or just a drop of olive "juice" can ruin the gin.

    Any More Room

Yeah, any reference book on SW fishkeeping will warn about lions & triggers. Its a bad deal for the lion; it may take time, but usually the trigger is going to find the lions fins irresistible. I think this mistake stems from the constant idea that lions are aggressive fish. They are not, they...
