you have to by plugs and cut plexiglass and hassle with getting more plugs and plexiglass if (when) it breaks..also inhibits flow (plexiglass in way)......using live rock rubble and eggrate gets maximum flow and the frags seem to encrust faster
an elkhorn is a digitata isn't it???
also basically most sps grow fast......in any species you should get 1/2" to 2" every month........the only species i have had that hasn't gorn that much is pocillopora
its a hit and miss.......one of the guys i know has this gorgous Potters Angel (in same family as flame..if you have seen one you know how sweet they are) and he nips at monti's.....but this could because i pseudochromis stops him from eating (he got rid of the pseudo)....but i also know ppl...
oh and i wouldn't do the garf method, egg crate works a whole lot better...and there is really no bad bacteria that can grow there (or really in many places in your tank, inless you have a dsb)

euro-reefs aren't as efficient as i want...different skimmer styles (venturi, tunze, counter current) all give you differen't compounds that they extract so you get the max efficiency and the most diverse amount of pollutants taken care of

Brad
i would do water changes....if the amonia and nitrates spike they will kill things that you want in your tank like bang said........if you do a 50 percent the first 3 weeks than take it down to 25 percent for 3 weeks than do 10 percent and keep at 10 percent forever........also ppl make the...
