    Injured Flower Nem

Sorry, maybe it was damaged to begin with? I'd talk to your LFS about getting credit because a month is awfully quick for something to die. If you're LFS is anything like mine, they'll understand. Mine gave me a free sixline because my devil damsel killed the other one!

Getting New Tank Need Help Picking One

I'd probably go with the reef ready tank because of the extra water volume and less depth. This way, the light would be better than if it was 31" high. IMO Merry Christmas!

    Dream Tank

Go as big as you can afford. This will open up a lot more options for stocking later. Also, welcome to the boards! I can definitely relate to your earlier situation. I started this hobby when I was in 5th grade... about 10. Now, I'm a sophomore at 15 with a 46g mixed reef that's really...

    Which Heater?

I've been watching and they're going on an off at odd intervals, but the temp is rising to 78. I think they just might need some time to break in. Everything looks good as of now, though. Just in case, I did save the boxes! lol =]

    help with powerheads

It depends on what you plan on keeping. For SPS I would get at least a 20-30x turnover rate between your powerheads and return pump.

    Which Heater?

I had them both vertically in the fuge where the knob was sticking out of the water... After seeing this, I put them diagonally on opposite sides so they were fully submerged and they kicked on. The temp is about 76 and I think they kicked off again. I might set them to 80 now.

    Which Heater?

Ok, yesterday I went out and bought the 2 heaters and put both in my fuge on opposite sides from each other. I have them both set to 78, but when I woke up and checked the temperature, it was 74 and the heaters were both showing the green off light. Do I just have really bad luck with heaters?

    Injured Flower Nem

Are you sure it's not splitting? It might be that the shock of going from less than ideal conditions to your tank would trigger its instinct to split, thus making it twice as likely to survive. I'd put it back in the tank and wait and see how it goes. Taking it out will just stress it more...

    brain coral

I had a brain like that. A small bit of its skeleton started showing and it was all downhill from there. I'd try to take it out of a lot of flow if it's in a high/moderate flow location and just kinda monitor it. Scraping off the algae might stress it out more and cause it to die quicker.

    Most fun to watch fish.

I love to watch my sixline... they're always weaving in between the rockwork then they stop, look around, pick at a few pods then drift around again. Awesome fish. I also love my clownfish pair, one orange occelaris and one black occelaris. =]

    Green Stylo-Polyp Extension

The heaters are replaced with 2 100W stealths... they're working great, keeping the tank to about 78-80. The stylo looks like it's a bit happier with more polyps extended and showing nicer colour again. I believe it's on the road to recovery! =]

Best new books for reef systems

Hello, and welcome to the boards! The book that really helped me get started in the hobby was "The Complete Idiot's Guide to Saltwater Aquariums" It's more of a beginners' guide, but I remember it had a nice reef section.
