    encrusted gorgonian advice

I had two of those in my previous tank. Give it a few days to open and it should be fine. very hardy. Don't put it next to anything you don't want it to spread to though. Mine grew rapidly and covered almost all of my bare rock. I had mine under pcs as well on that tank. I head 260w on a 55...

Look what I just found in my own garage sale!

yeah the weld on is the stuff. I would first weld on the crack and then do a piece across the crack to help relieve pressure and you should be good to go. Nice find. Rich

    bio balls or rubble rock

I have thought of this a few times myself. Most people state the bio balls are a nitrate trap unless you clean them regularly. With this in ming I would think you would have to clean the live rock rubble just as regularly because it will trap just as much detrious as the balls if not more. Rich

    How Should Cleaner Shrimp Act?

I have had my pair for a while now and they still tend to hide behind a rock about half the day. They always come out when I feed the tank though and if I clean the glass they are all over my hands. Rich

    HDTV and DVD player help

I know the blue wave? and hd dvd players should be out there. As far as the cables you need to find out what your tv has. Whether dvi or hdmi no big deal. The only difference is the hdmi carries the audio signal as well. Haven't done much research on them. Been wanting to upgrade myself(I...

Help design the perfect propogation system: Part 1 Filtration

Maybe it is just me but.... You are talking a 200 gallon system basically. A little less but close. If you are talking major fuge here I don't think you need to worry about filter media. And the fish you are talking here aren't exactly waste factories on a scale you should be too worried...

    Fish-less reef tanks.

thought about doing this as well because the coral is what interests me. However the wife wanted a "FISH" tank so you can guess what happened there. We stopped at five fish in a 125. It is nice having some motion in there while the corals start t fill in. Rich

    Fish only to reef tank

Unfortunately with that tank I don't think your lights are going to work at all. Like someone else said 2 250 watt halides maybe even 400 watts. I don't think you will be able to keep a whole lot with what you have unless you build the rock up a lot and keep everything in the center of the...

    Fish only to reef tank

The only thing I worry about this light set up is the dimensions on your tank. Typically the rule of thumb is one halide per two feet of tank. I think the 175 would be fine, but with only one bulb I question how much you could keep and how well it will light the actual tank. Rich

    Fish only to reef tank

You have a good start. I would definitely add the rock first and get your tank to stabilize again. Describe the light set you have. If only one hqi then going to be a little on the small side. Other than that you have a good start. You might need a little more water flow but it depends on the...
