they are basicly v.h.o lights that are bent in half so that the two ends are at the same end. that why they hae 4 pins at one end.

a glass hydrometer is extreamly acruate. mine is within .005 of a refractometer. so you dont need to buy one of those fancy refractometer. all it is, is quicker. the glass ones are fragile so you have to becareful not to bang it around. and they are just as cheap as the plastic.

yes the live rock is good but you amount of fish is way to high.one clown or one damsel.you should try to remember 1 inch of fish = 5 gal of water.

well most skimmer do take about a doy to break in and get running correctly. also everytime you do any kind of water change it will also mess with the skimmer settings. i always do my water changes in the morning and check the skimmer all day so it doesnt overflow into my livingroom. lol. so...
