if you are going with cichlids they like a high ph and hard water i had a 140 gal cichlid tank and i used a mix of play sand and southdown sand they loved it plus i had a lot of holey rock in the tank

I just use the ones from walmart the three prong Heavy Duty it will do 15 amps or 1750 w and they cost $5 - $8

yea that brillo pad macros or what ever they call them are hardy i got some from a guy that broke down his ref it was in the bottom of a IO bucket of old sand he gave me that had been sitting outside for a few days and it was colddddddd but it came right back and is doing great

i don't have a chiller but the way i look at it is if my tank needs it it get's it. :happyfish this is not a hobby that is cheap to start with any way i just dont think about it :happy: that is till my wife ask :mad:

if your tank will be a fish only tank then it's fine if it's going to be a reef tank than add more salt. that 1/2 cup per gal for IO salt will get you to were you are 1.018

all three white wires go togther, the red wire from the ballast go's on the black wire to the light and the black wire from the ballast go's to the black wire on the power cord and the green wires go togther and hook it up to the ballast case like i have
