I wouldn't reccomend a tank with one of those wet dry systems built in. Get a nice oceanic reef ready if you have the money and get a decent sized sump to run a in-sump skimmer, heater, carbon and any other goodies you want but don't want to clutter up the tank with. Look at some Euroreefs for...
Can you give me some things to look for when I get the maxima. You refered to mantle, I suppose thats the rippling fleshy part at the top of the clam. There's suppose to be lots of that sticking out? Whats the foot suppose to look like.
Yeah definately don't do just one large does once a week, hell if you could do that than why not just dump in a gallon, that should last a good couple months. I wouldn't dose much more than one ml per 2 gallons of tank water per dose.
I think montipora's would do fine with that much PC lighting, they may not have the best of color but not all would be brown as long as they're near the top of the tank. My clown goby doesn't really stay near my monties, he hides in the rocks mainly. I only see him once every few days.
When it is on the bottom will its foot go all the way to the bottom and attach to the glass or will it just sit on the top of the sand. Also if I do put it on a rock how hard are they to get off if I want to move it later? Also do I have to feed a 2" maxima or will it be ok with just light.
So was it a powerhead or a pump. I have one of the new SEIO's and have read over a hundred posts about them and so far no burn up with them, supposedly they fixed the problems with the old pumps and they are also UL listed. I definately wouldn't use one of the old one though. I think the new...
Nope Magnetics drive the bulb better. Electronics may make the bulb last longer but pretty much they just conserve energy and thus create less heat from the ballast. 20k's are the blues, you won't get the growth of 10k's but probably better coloration of your corals.
Also if I were to push more flow through it I fear I would have had an even worse problem with the sponge. I really get sick of maintenance after a while especially with a cramped sump. I can't wait to get a huge tank with a room behind it for equipment so space out my stuff for easy access.
well steve I could see rinsing my sponge every couple weeks is I had a good reactor that had keyholes but the phosband doesn't and you have to unscrew all 10 nylon bolts. Also I have a 75 with a quite cramped sump and its pretty much a pain in the A$$ to get the reactor out to take the top off.
Well I had no phosphates from the beginning, only a slight amount of hair algae on some rocks and some hair in the overflow boxes. I wanted to kill both or stop their spread, the algae in the overflow has turned brown but it still grows, the small spots of algae on the rock has stopped growing...
Ok I had used the Phosban reactor with ROWAphos for about 2.5 months and it stopped working. So I took out the maxi400 running it and it was prefectly clean and working, cleaned it again and still didn't work. So I took the reactor out of my sump and took it apart, The top sponge was totally...
There is a type of snail I think it is that has a tubelike shell permanently attached to the rock and secretes a thin mucus string that collects food that is brings back in.
Your Alk is 4.0 dkh or meq? I think it has a lot to do with how you dose alk/calcium and wether or not you use kalkwasser. I dose Bionic 2 part and kalk directly into the sump chamber that houses the return pump so it gets a lot of concentrated calcium and alk buffer through the pump. I'd say...
