Does your 20k MH bulb burn through a really blue color?

I got a 20k XM that was only used 1 month at 6hrs a day, When I started it up I was suprised at how white it looks. I have it next to a XM 10k and you can definately tell a difference but its nowhere near as blue as I though it would be. It looks like a bluish white but definately just not plain...

    Final purchase

You can get away with only one MH bulb on your tank, you can either go with one 250 or one 400. Why are you buying a full hood if you're gonna build a canopy. You best bet would be to just get a retro kit to put inside your canopy. If you can do a bit of wiring you can get a MH ballast for about...

    What should i do?

Don't go with a seaclone, they're crap especially for lionfish and eels which produce tons of waste. If you need a hang on skimmer get a remora, they cost more than a seaclown but its for a reason.

    Lights over a tank

It depends if the ballast on your PC's are exposed or if it has a remote ballast. It its remote you can mount the PC's as close as about 3in from the water, just make sure you don't have water splash on the blubs.

    Do metal halides=grow lights??

John is absolutely correct, some MH bulbs require special ballast to fire but a standard magnetic ballast probably found in the grow lights will fire many bulbs. Make sure the grow light isn't mercury vapor becuase I think thats a different kind of ballast. Grow bulbs are normaly very low...

    stressed?

They also may sit on their side on the bottom of the tank and breathe rapidly as stated above. They may also be stressed if being bullied by other fish.

Question for Won digital heater owners.

That makes me feel better. I had to clean my pumps yesterday and noticed there was a good bit of calcium buildup on the titanium tube. It was quite hard to get off even after soaking in diluted vinegar for an hour. I had to scrape it off with a knife and took about 20min, it was almost as thick...

    992gph to much for a 54g tank?

Definatley not, there are people with SPS barebottom tanks running in excess of 100x turnover, I think thats a little overboard but you're definatly ok.

Question for Won digital heater owners.

did you have the digital readout model or was it the standard one? I'm not sure how they could stick on since they're digital and not the old fashion wiring which could malfunction and stick on but I guess anything's possible.

    Question about feeding open brain....

I only see the tentacles around the rim during the night. I thought about putting the brain in a small container of tank water and temporarily remove it from the tank and feed it in the small container then put it back into the tank. It would be a bit of a hassle but I'd probably only do it once...

Question for Won digital heater owners.

I cleaned a bunch of calcium buildup off the heater bar and when I put it back int the tank I noticed that when my digital readout said 79 the arrow on the dial cooresponded to only about 75. I checked the water temp with 2 stick on LCD cheapo thermometers, I don't even think my tank would run...

    Question about feeding open brain....

Ok I got a red open brain from here about 3 weeks ago and it looks pretty good but I can't seem to feed it. I've been trying to get it to eat Formula 1 cubes but my clown and fire shrimp steal it before the brain gets a chance to eat it. Question is does the brain really need to eat or can it...

    Calcium Reactor questions.....

I may try to get a Geo reactor later this year to run on my 75. I've heard the design of the Geo reactor almost eliminates CO2 returning to the tank. I've heard of few people having problems with PH lowering. Why do some people use PH controllers along with a reactor, do they use it to turn the...

    Calcium Reactor questions.....

Ok I'm feeling a bit retarded, so you have a circulation pump and then a feeder pump that feeds water from the sump to the reactor and then the reactor drips back to the sump or what.

    Calcium Reactor questions.....

So by feeder pump you mean like a Litermeter or something? Damn that makes a cal reactor even more expensive. Kip could you run a cal reactor without dripping kalk. If so would I have to keep dosing Bionic and if so which part.
