I have a Two part question, 1. is it O.K. to put macro algae in a sump that has mangroves trees in it? and 2nd how long does it take be for it starts pulling out nitrates? Thanks

If you added live rock you do have some bacteria. You plan to add some more LR right? After you add the new LR there are two ways to cycle your tank. A hard cycle is to let all water levels get as high as they will go and let them come down on there own this give you a very good bacteria base...

I have a few spots of hair algae on a few large rocks in a reef tank. I have taken care of the phophates, but I still have a few spots left. My question is can I brush the rocks off without taken them out of tank and let the filter take it out of the water? Or will that make it spred to other...

First off welcome...as stated above you want to add your CUC before you add anything else. And some more live rock would not be a bad idea. Your live rock is your bio filter and will support your much needed beneficial bacteria. You want to have 1 to 1 1/2 pounds per gal. of water. Plus it gives...

I run carbon 24/7 in all my tanks. I do change it out about every two weeks or so. Down side is you will strip away some essential elements, but with weekly water changes you put them back anyway.
