    Adding Sand to Active Tank

I am considering adding additional sand to my sand bed, but my tank is already established and I do not want to pull everything out to do it. Is there a good technique for doing this? Is this a bad idea?

    ID My "fishing" worm

I have a worm in my LR that looks like it is going fishing. It starts close to the rock and then arcs out like it is "casting" and then "reels" itself back in. Any thoughts on an ID?

    mixing sand?

Agreed. You should also research what order to put them in the tank. One site suggests putting LS down first, quickly putting dead sand on top " to exclude oxygen, refreshing the anaerobic bacteria colonies. " and then the argo to help the other sand settle/weigh it down. I am sure there are...

    mixing sand?

You may need to be more specific on your plans. However, I have seen multiple places where they recommend certain mixtures of sand. I am sure it depends on what your plans are.

Best Methods of filtration for Non-drilled tanks

I do not want to drill my tank if I can avoid it, and I am trying to avoid anything hanging on the tank. What is the best filtration method within overflow chambers to maintain parameters. Parms are not that bad now, but I am always looking to improve. Here is my current set up. Cube aquarium...

    Torch tragedy!

If you see brown wispy strings coming out of the heads, it is probably expelling its zooanthelle. In addition to other issues it may be having.

    torch gives the cold shoulder

My clowns did stop trying to host the torch. That said, while i suspected this as a possible cause, there may have been other factors that actually caused the problem. It is hard to say. I will say that I only had the torch for a month and a half when this occurred. I would be more comfortable...

Help, Is this what an Anemone looks like before "poof"?

FWIW I have a bubble tip that just did the same thing about a week ago after I fed him....now he seems to be back to normal....I have also seen pics of them looking like this and the clown wrestling to get in....IMO nothing to get worried about yet...although I can only say that in hindsight...I...

    torch gives the cold shoulder

This exact situation happened to me. I have an 8 head torch which was doing well....until...my clowns tried to host it. (can't be 100% this was the cause, but suspected.) The Torch started to expel its zooanthelle ("brown wispy gunk") until all of the heads looked miserable.... bordering on...

    Chocolate Chip starfish

To add to my previous post. The CC star I had was eating my nerite snails, but did not touch my other snails. I believe this was because the Nerite snails were small enough and slow enough to capture easily. Personally I feel a CC star is infinitely cooler then Nerite snails, so I would not...

    Chocolate Chip starfish

I can only comment based on my experience, and based on the input of others in this thread I would say the CC star must be another issue of it depends on what your animal decides. I had a CC star which I inherited when I took the tank off someone else. I fed the CC star which it took readily...

    Crocea Clams

I wanted to know what others experience has been with Crocea clams. I am looking at them for two reasons. From what I have read they stay relatively small, and they appear to be attractive clams. Any input from others on their experiences would be great. Thanks in advance.
