    HQI double ended

A friend of mine is setting up a 175 bowfront reef and wants to be able to put any type of coral in it eventually. the tank is 28 1/2" high. Will 3 - 250 watt HQI MH's accented with 2- 160 watt superactinic vho's be sufficient? Also, are the double ended HQI's as good as the standard single...

    Black Sailfin Blennie

Took a better picture of him today. He is a little shy, but is grazing constantly on the LR when I stand back a bit and watch.

    Question on my parameters

When trying to stabilize your Alk. and Ca using B-Ionic, it is OK to just use one of the two parts to try to get your parameters in line. Yes, part one does raise the Alk. Your Ca is close to what you want also 420-450 is good. You can stop dosing part one for a few days until your Ca goes up...

I think my Pagoda Coral is dying....anyone with one, please help.

My pagoda did this on 2 occassions. Once, when it flipped upside down onto the sandbed, it didn't open for 2 weeks. I though it was a goner. Another time it flipped and was touching my torch coral. It even seemed to lose some color and show some bare skeleton in a few spots.Again, didn't open...

    VHO and PC

Fish don't really have lighting preferences that I know of, but corals do well with blue light. The amount of blue and white light that you mix is your own taste in looks. Here is my old 46 gallon reef tank w/ 440 watts of VHO ( 220 white actinic and 220 super actinic) - 4 - 36" bulbs...

    VHO and PC

One other consideration is that PC 's run much hotter than VHO's in my experience. My preference is an even mix of super actinic and white actinic(12K). If you want a little less blue, then go w/ aqua suns(10k) intead of white actinics. I would definitely go with Ice Cap ballasts and URI...
