    Sexy Shrimp Hanging Out Again

He usually hangs out in my sinularia spp. but lately he's been roaming. I posted some pics of him hanging out in my rics but this was a little bit of a surprise. Here are a couple pics of him hanging out in my hawaiian feather duster.

    No, they're not tropical

I took a trip to Forks WA this weekend for one of my classes and got some pretty cool pics. We went to 2 beaches but the second was called Cape Alava and it was truly amazing. You had to hike 3 miles to get to the beach and it was by far the most pristine beach I've ever been to. Take a look at...

Fishman Generally if you choose to become a scientist of any sort be it geology, astronomy, chemistry, etc. you most likely aren't going to be making the big bucks. Does that mean that you can't make a decent pay no. I talked with a professor recently who told me (taking it with a grain of sand)...

Well, I'm not a marine biologist yet, in the making hopefully though. Studying to be a marine biologist I can tell you is a lot of fun. Yes there are still tests and studying to do, but I have no problem writing lab reports after studying zonation of organisms on a rocky intertidal zone (what...

First of all thanks for the Id's ophiura for the id's. I know it'll probably be a lot of work to get a marine biology job. Hopefully when the time comes when I'm done with my masters I'll be lucky enough to get one of those jobs. Thanks again Aaron

No, they're all cold water species. Most people would be surprised that most coldwater species are just as colorful as tropical species. I'd like to set up a coldwater tank in the future but I don't have the money at the moment. The water they come from is about 50degrees f. Aaron

Yeah, I'm with you on having a job I like. Never been to Turks and Caicos but I am going to Townsville, Australia in February for 5 months to study abroad. The university is called James Cook University and the great barrier reef is off the coast from there. I can't think of a better place to...

They make alright money. After your masters if you get a job with a university you'd start around the low 30k from what I'm told. Obviously higher if you get a phd but not too many people want to go through that much school.

what kind of anemone is this

I used to work at a lfs and we would get quite a bit of the originally posted anemone in. I could never seem to remember the name but I do remember that they were definately not a good seller. They'd sit in the tank for months on end. Most people don't want an anemone that doesn't host clowns. Aaron

what kind of anemone is this

Looks like a Curly Q anemone. Thats the common name but I'm not sure on the actual genus species. As with other anemones they'll need a good amount of light (mh recommended) and occasional feedings aren't a bad idea. In my experience they usually just burrow into the sand and stay there. Good...

    Alaskan Marine Life

Very cool pics. Most of those animals you can find here in Washington as well. The giant green sea anemone that you have pictured are absolutely amazing in their coloring.

    What is your favorite animal?

Well favorite pet would be my cat Felix. But favorite animal in general would have to be a cuttlefish. Smart, beautiful and still mysterious. Here's a pic of one. Aaron
