Many things determine the color of coralline. The green typically grows in darker areas. Purple in areas with more light. High flow areas will typically have more growth. Unless it obstructs your view I would suggest leaving it there. Once it gets good coverage it actually makes it look...

He has been and continues to be a model citizen. An agressive eater, but doesn't hurt any other fish in the process. He does tend to knock over snails for fun. Hasn't killed any yet and I don't think he will. :D

As long as you don't remove the sand or live rock from the water for a long period of time you will be fine. Think of it as a large water change. :)
