You can just use regular lighting that comes with the hood if you are only doing fish.

It is expensive and requires a lot of dedication. Mine was pushing $2000.00 with all of the equipment I got.

If you are looking at going the power compact route, do a search on ---- for the Coralife lights. They now include moonlights and all for around $130 in the size you are looking at. With those lights you would have no problem keeping the LPS corals like the open brain.

The "green thing" is an open brain coral. Tank size is not an issue as much as lighting. What kind of lights do you have over your tank??

Yes I do have some tank pics. I get most of my stuff from Michael's Aquatic Den here in Cleveland. I do get some corals from Bermuda Triangle in Chatt town.

I have noticed that my star polyps have been closed for a couple of days. I decided to check my chemistry tonight and here is what I found. Ammonia = 1 ppm Nitrite = 0 Nitrate = 0 Should I use an ammonia locking agent and do some water changes? Or, should I just concern myself with some water...

I second the advise given. The smell is horrible.

Here is a couple of suggestions. Mine is doing fine and thought I would share my placement. After some research I discovered they like to be shaded from bright light. I placed mine under an overhang on the sand bed. It is kind of isolated in a dead flow area so food can get to it.

Agree with NM. I have the same test kit and it does have that funnel.

Just my $0.02. It doesn't look bad. If they are going to die they typically show skeleton or lose color or both.
